Loud and the Motor Smells

My old Oster Classic Blender finally bit the dust so I ordered a replacement. Wow, right out of the box I noticed the difference....my old blender weighed 5 lbs. and the replacement weighed 3.5 lbs. Lids plastic and leaks, maybe thru the plastic insert. 1st use to make a smoothie was loud and the motor smelled like it was going to start smoking.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Bottom fell out

Worked great and really liked the blender until the bottom fell out as I was lifting it up and lost $40 worth of food.

Very powerful. Fast. Uniform blend.

This replaces a much older similar blender. It has 2 speeds. It can be switched onto HIGH and stays running so long as the switch isn't returned to OFF. However, on LOW setting, the switch needs to be held in that position, otherwise it returns to OFF. There lots of times that I want a blender to stay on LOW while I do other things, and even when breaking an egg into the jar. I bake popovers frequently, and the batter should be mixed on LOW. Please give us that option.
