It has problems
on November 29, 2015

This is our first HD tv and we are using it through a standard definition Directv box. We are finding some flaws in our TV and are quite disappointed. Below I will list the flaws.
1. Sometimes the picture looks like we are looking through a wire mesh screen.
2. Sometimes the screen has wavy lines in the images causing me to be nauseated.
3. Only 1 caption option works other than default and that is CC1 but as we change channels, the caption size keep changing size. It is not coming from Directv because we have an older box which doesn't have the capabilities for caption. Using caption with directv on this older box has always come from our TVS and in the 20 years we have been with Directv we have never had this problem. I rely on caption due to hearing loss and this just isn't working, when the caption goes small, I can't read it. And this can happen on the same channel, going from large capitals to small lower case.
Pros: Inexpensive, Realistic color, Built-in speakers, Lightweight, stays cool to touch
Cons: Did not meet expectations, captions keep changing size, wavy lines, distorted picture - meshed wire screen look
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So, this came with the main product that I purchased for my house, I was able to briefly play around with it but not extensively. I have no doubt that like my other products from Samsung it will be a wise investment that will perform as if not better than expected.
Pros: Inexpensive, Realistic color, Bright display, Built-in speakers, Durable, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

LED backlit LCD technology flawed
on July 6, 2015

Have always owned plasma sets and this technology is more akin to the rear projections of old. The edges and corners on these type sets are darkened at times creating a halo effect and is no where near the quality of a plasma, also the refresh rate for these sets need to be higher to prevent motion freeze. Spoke with salesmen and looked at C net reviews and they are not positive at this time but hopeful of improvement. The old rear projection sets were a disaster too. The smaller sets backlighting is sparse the 4g is more dense and the expensive OLED is by far the only one with a picture to rival plasma.
Pros: Inexpensive, Lightweight
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, picture and sound lacking guide not informative
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
