Have to pay extra for the melodies to work!

Wasted 30 minutes trying to get it to play a melody instead of the annoying chimes - the instructions that came with the product do not have any details on how to do so. I eventually downloaded an "updated" instruction manual from this website to find out the melodies only work when you buy a doorbell kit and switch the unit to "doorbell mode". Otherwise it seems to be working well although I've only been using it for a day.

Utterly useless!

All I wanted was a simple tone to let me know someone was coming up the drive, but this obnoxious gimmick sets off a security alarm style racket. The alarm sound is only changeable if you spend more money and buy a doorbell chime, which I and presumably many others simply don’t need or want!

The receiver will have preset alarms for each channel to help you distinguish them. Happy with purchase

We are very happy wth this product, and do not have any problems with the volume settings. I do not think the low setting is too loud. It only alarms for a few seconds as whatever making it go off passes (unless there is something continually standing in the detecting beam). We initially had the setting on low, and changed it to medium because I want to be able to hear it about the house without having to carry it around with me. I think if I am planning to be in the basement for any length of time, I would need to carry it with me or turn the volume to high. So far, we have had no false alarms from shadows or wind. It goes off when something is in our driveway, such as a person or vehicle.

Works well

I bought this about a year ago, and it works great. The only problem is when the batteries run down, I had trouble getting the alarm and inside alert to synchronize again. Would buy it again.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Only has police siren sound

Perfect product, except I can't change the "melody" away from the police siren - distributor does not make available door bell kit (which is a required extra purchase to enable choice of melody), so I have to take this back for a refund.

Sadly, it triggered more frequently when the sun came out, than when i walked towards it. Or past it. Have tried 4 different locations (up high, 3 places, down low once. Same result. I have a very large open area and consistently, i had to be 3 meters or closer for the alarm to trigger and it managed to trigger only, Id say 60-70 percent of the time. I even set up a test area in a light neutral inside area - same results. Not reliable enough to trust.
As for the tones not being changeable unless you buy the doorbell kit, I dont remember seeing that described anywhere on the advertising or fulfilment.
Overall, very disappointed and will most certainly not be buying any more Swann equipment for my home setup.

Disappointing Lack of Flexibility

Despite there being several preloaded chimes in the device these are only available should you add a door chime to your system. Rather than being able to select the sound you hear as someone arrives you get a default siren. Even simply allowing the sensor to be mated to the indoor unit would have allowed users to avoid jumping every time it is activated.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great for a factory not the study

Have had two sensors working fine for two months. Original batteries still ok.The lowest volume setting is way too loud with all the merry go round music just all too much.To buy an add on sensor is expensive. The sensors work well though.
