Replacing a ten tear old Series 5

After 10 tears the battery didn't charge well. I liked it quite well and looked for another. I found this without the self-cleaning which I thought was more expensive than it was worth. I bought the 720 and I am glad I did. The shave is the equal of a blade and is very comfortable. It cleans very well and costs next to nothing to clean. It can handle three days growth without difficulty and the charge has lasted sixty days. It is costly but if it lasts like the Series 5 and continues to perform, I will not regret the money at all. I heartily recommend this shaver.

Poor quality shaver head Series &

I can't believe the poor quality of the shaver head...it won't go beyond 3 months before the foil gets a hole in it...causing the shaver head to be useless....I have gone 3 shaver heads in 7 months....
I have been a Braun razor customer for over 10 years...loved the Series 5...will buy the 5 Series again...so sad that Braun would sell such an inferior product...

It can take up to 3 weeks for the skin to adjust to a new shaver. 2. Shave before washing your face 3. Make sure face is dry before shaving 4. Hold shaver at a 90 degree angle 5. Stretch the skin and shave against hair growth; change direction as needed 6. Use a gentle touch and let the shaver do the work 7. Clean shaver after every use 8. Be sure to replace the foil and cutter block every 9-18 months.

Good, not great. No plastic cap for shaving head!

This razor is better than my two Panasonic wet/dry razors, but those Panasonic razors cost me a fraction of what I paid for this Braun. While the Braun is better, it's not THAT much better. I did get a closer shave. I did have to use less strokes to accomplish the closer shave. But overall, shaving took me maybe 20% less time. I shave my head and this did not give me a super close shave in that area. The cheapest electric razor I ever bought included a clear plastic cover for the shave head, to protect the shaving heads (foils or rotary blades). I can't imagine what Braun was thinking to not include a plastic cap for the shaving head. Yes, a semi-hard zippered cloth case is included but a plastic cap is critical to taking good care of any electric razor. For all of these reasons, I am probably going to return this razor.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

this product does not give me a close shave no matter how many times i go over my face. it does not compare with the series 3 shaver. i bought it since i could clean it with water and not have to buy the cleaner solution every month.

No foil and cutter cassette included

I was all excited about purchasing a 720s-4. I have used Braun before and have been very pleased with the quality and value for money. However, I got home, opened the box only to find there is no foil and cutter cassette included. What a disappointment. Buyers beware. Add the cost of a foil and cutter cassette to the original price before making a decision to purchase.

Does not do well with flat-lying hair

I've followed all the instructions provided by Braun but still cannot get an even shave on 1-day or 2-day beard. There are parts where it just wont pick up the hair no matter what I do.

Excellent shave

I'm now a believer in electric shave Series 7. For many years I used fusion razors and recently switched to DE. I enjoy using DE shavers and the close shave. I truly doubted Braun Shavers and how close a shave I could get. My first shave was amazing. It took sometime to get used to electric shaver, but what an amazing shave. The shave using the series 7 was as close as using a DE shaver, without the burn and weepers. Braun your the best shaver hands down

Quality shaver without bells and whistles of other Series 7 models

I've had this Series 7 model 7-720s4 for 1.25 years now. About to change the cartridge because it tells me it's time and I can tell the shave hasn't been as good lately as in the beginning. It says replace the cartridge every 18 months. The cartridge lasted me 15 months, which is still good compared to Norelco. I do not use the Clean and Renew system. Reading comments online I found some good advice and tweaked it to my own liking. I purchased a bottle of the Norelco clean and lubricating solution (which is cheaper than Braun's). I pour some in an old eyeglass lens cleaner spray bottle. After removing the razor head and rinsing the loose hairs out with warm/hot water, I shake the water out well. Then I spray the Norelco solution on the front and back of the cartridge then shake the excess off. Place the razor and cartridge in a cup or counter top still unattached to dry. Now you cartridge is clean and lubricated for your next shave.
