Battery charging problem

Not good at all

Not happy with it sending back today gps would not change holes started on 10 but devise froze on hole 1

First Impressions

Have used several brands of golf gps units in the past, but was interested in getting one that gave you many options, and included the added advantages of measuring health related items so I could have a watch, golf gps unit, and means to monitor exercises all in one. Shared by research on the one I wanted with Santa, and just got it for Xmas this year. Went with the premium model for forecasted improved durability, and ordered an additional beautiful band to use on it. After receiving it, downloaded the Garmin app, registered the product, and set it up with parameters to my taste. This was exceptionally fast and easy with minimum effort. Wore it for two days and all appeared well. Last night, downloaded the owner's manual, and was going through the details of what all was offered in the other apps. At one point, it required pushing in the number 3 button, to view the controls menu. Prior to this point, I had 82% battery charge. When I pushed it in momentarily, it shut off! I realized this is also the on/off button, so I pushed it again to turn it back on - it tried to come back on, the "diamond symbol" lit briefly and lightly, and that was the end of it. The unit had suddenly totally drained the battery and would not start. Prior to realizing what had happened, I got on line on the Garmin forum, and found the suggestion to do a reset by holding the #3 button in for 30 seconds, and then try to restart it. Nothing happened - would not restart. Finally, did put it on a charger, and found out about the zero charge. Let it recharge totally, and all is well. Had contacted the store where it was bought, to see about how to return it or exchange it - after finding it was OK after the charge, decided to give it one more chance during use for golf in the coming weeks, to ensure the problem does not repeat. I will update a review at the end of January after a few rounds in sunny Florida. Hopefully then, I can give it a full 5 stars.

We are pleased to hear you are happy with the watch. A rapid battery drain would normally indicate you were in an active GPS activity or set to a search mode for an accessory device. If your battery issues persist we would encourage you to contact Garmin directly

Disappointed

My daughter bought Approach S60 10 days ago in New York as a Christmas gift. The instruction booklet is thick but only 3 pages in English with small letters for very limited information. I set the clock with 12 hour format and auto time source, but I still have a New York time instead of California time. It should be changed automatically with GPS system.

Good features, nice design.

Bought primarily for golf. Feature packed, very nice watch. Good battery life. 2 complaints. It's too light and feels "flimsy" or "plasticky", and the display is a little too dim for my taste and mediocre at best. Other than that, this is a solid choice for the golfer and fitness enthusiast alike.
