So far, really a great phone

I have been a windows and iphone user for a long period of time. I purchased the Samsung Galaxy S8+, and this is my first android phone since the Motorola Atrix. I must say, it has come a long way. Phone seems pretty easy to use so far. Display is amazing. Size is perfect - For a 6+ inch screen it is very manageable and very comfortable [Far more comfortable than the iphone 7 plus or the Lumia 950]. I like the two apps on one screen function - making it very useful. I have been using it quite a bit the last two days - even downloading apps and streaming from youtube 4k material - battery life drains at about 5% per hour. Which would equate to 20 hours of use...which seems pretty good to me.
The phone I have had before this one is the Lumia 950. As a real comparison, the Lumia does take better photos - but the photos on the Galaxy are still very nice [probably on par with the iphone 7plus that other family members have]. If the Galaxy S8+ has the text feature the windows phones do, I will never go back. While driving with my windows phone, I always leave it in my pocket or glove compartment - if I receive a text it prompts me to listen and then voice reply which works incredibly well. Never have to fumble with the phone. I haven't had the chance to try this with the Galaxy as I have only had it a day and a half...but I am really hoping this has that feature built into the phone. I could never understand with all the problems of texting and driving, why windows phones had this feature for 4 years now and neither android nor iOS ever bothered incorporating this into their phones. Maybe it changed with this phone...I'M HOPING.
But regarding the S8+, if you are an android person - this definitely is as good as it gets for comfort, display and use. If you are an iphone user - you may wish to give this a try [different, but works well and is very fast and streams incredibly with just about the best display I have seen on a phone.
The only gripe I do have is that mobile transfer did not transfer my contacts from my prior phone to the s8+. Only letters A and B transferred onto my new phone. I will have to go to ATT to have them transfer it [hopefully they can]; otherwise its going to be a tedious two weeks transferring contacts from one phone to the other manually. Everything else transferred nicely, pics, videos, documents, etc..
Again, GREAT PHONE so far - I am still happily learning the Android os and its capabilities. Those who have it will enjoy it.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, battery life, better than i expected
Cons: couldn't get my contacts onto s8 from lumia 950.

I've had the S5, S6 Edge, S7 Edge and now, I have the S8 Plus. I'm over the "edge" screen and I was hoping my next phone wouldn't have it. I miss the front button, it was a landmark that let me know as I was reaching into my pocket, if I was holding my phone upside down and it allowed me to wake up the phone at the same time. The screen is ok. A lot of apps don't use the entire screen though, giving you black bars at the top and bottom, or on the sides if it's a landscape game/app. The rounded edges / corner on the screen are annoying. The S7 Edge, had sharp corners, The S8, has rounded corners, making it feel as if I'm losing screen space in the notification bar and in apps that actually use the full screen. Programmers don't account for rounded edges in their games or apps. The location of the finger print reader and heart rate meter next to the camera lens is unfortunate. I end up getting my lens all dirty and blurry just by trying to use the other two features.
Pros: Bright display, knox, ethernet cable support, dex
Cons: Did not meet expectations, too much samsung bloat, lock screen clock changed without applying a theme, chromatic aberration on edge screen at curve., rounded corners of screen, bixby button cannot be reassigned, bixby assistant isn't useful, cannot remove bixby, a hardware button for bixby is poor design, cannot uninstall or disable email app
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I know there are going to be updates coming in the Spring and I look forward to receiving them as well which will make this even a better device than I'd hoped for.

My Galaxy Note 4 was getting old and needed a much better replacement. Well this is it! Great phone. So many more options and things to do with it. Highly recommend this phone!
