Great Phone

I have had all three curved screen phones S6 edge, S7 edge and S8+. I have yet to have any issues with screens as stated in a couple reviews I have read. The screens are tough and don't scratch easily. I did have a cracked screen on my S6 but any other brand would have been broken much worse. The phone still functions perfectly even with the cracks. I am very hard on my phones working and dropping the phone every day. Why would anyone ever use a smart phone without a protective case. Which brings me to complaints about finger prints on the back glass not a problem on any phone I have ever had. All my phones have been protected by a case. If you want to show off the beauty of your phone get one of the clear cases that are available then you have the best of both worlds. As for the fingerprint scanner it is in the perfect space, much better placement than other phones I have tried with the scanner in the middle area of the back. As for putting smudges on the camera lens that is pretty hard to do unless you have peanut butter and jelly on your finger. I have tried to smudge my camera lens with just my finger and cannot smudge it to any degree that would ever cause a lack of picture quality. My opinion is people will complain about just about anything if its a valid complaint or not. As for locating the scanner without looking it is very easy to locate if you are right handed, it may be a different story if you are a lefty but I don't know about that. My case has a beveled edge near the scanner that makes it extremely easy to place your finger on the scanner. The iris scanner is the best method to use but everyone has their preferences. The plus size is not that large and easy to use with one hand or well with my hands anyway which are of normal size. It took me a while to warm up to no home button but I'm getting use to using the power button to open and close my desktop. While I'm on the home button I don't see where eliminating it gave any more screen area. The area where the button was is now taken by the on screen buttons so that area of the screen is still taken up by buttons. It does look much sleeker and modern but didn't give any more usable screen space. As for Bixby or the lack there of, I'm not getting it. I don't see Bixby ever being anything better than Goggle assistant so what's the big hoopla. At this point it's nothing more than another widget that I'll never use. The Bixby button should have been the new home button. Maybe Samsung will pull it off but I don't see it being anything to hold your breath on. I have an issue with the S8 using Samsung Pay, it just doesn't work anymore. I am a big user of Samsung Pay but with my new phone it's not working, I always get your card is declined, very disappointing. Now I'm back to using my card and loosing points on Samsung Pay. It is still working on my other phone but not the S8, it is so hit or miss I have given up entirely I hate holding up the line, very disappointing. Even the latest update that was just pushed down has not fixed the issue. The phone battery is average on usage, better than my S6 worse than my S7 but it last most the day and I don't play games or do other heavy usage and screen is turned down. With always on display turned on it makes it through the day but not much more than that. I have turned off always on display and have about 40 percent at around 6pm. Fast charge has always been a plus on all my S phones and wireless charging charges in good time. The phone is fast and works smooth it's the best performance I have seen on any phone. I do like the new phone and feel it is the best thing going at this point in time. I have no worries about the battery it's a shame they had the Note 7 problem and I get tired of people asking aren't you afraid the phone is going to blow up. Bye Bye Samsung phones if that happens, so I'm pretty sure they have done everything to make their batteries trouble free. I've had my S7 for a year or so and it has had no problems with screen performance or battery so I'm 100 percent confident that the S8 is going to be superior to that phone. I highly recommend this phone. The size of the S8+ is spot on and a perfect fit for the average user, maybe a little large for a woman but it's much more user friendly that the other plus size phones on the market. I only gave four stars on features because of Bixby nothing there for me, or anyone for that matter because it is not there. I understand the reason for pushing out the phone without it to beat the competition but advertising something that's not there is not good practice.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Durable
I would recommend this to a friend!

Glad I took the plunge!

I spent more than I really wanted to when getting this phone. Let's be honest though, tbey all are when they are of this quality! I do enjoy using this device and am glad I purchased it despite the financial investment. I had the Galaxy S5 since it came out so needless to say, I needed to upgrade. Though the S8 and S8+ (only difference between the 2 is the actual size of the device with the S8+ being the larger of the 2) have new features I never had with the S5, it was still a very smooth transition for me and surprisingly easy to learn and adjust to all the new features. I've only had this phone for about a week but I feel just as familiar and comfortable with it as I did with the S5 after having it for several years. I had put off upgrading because I didn't want to deal with learning to use a new device after having my old 1 for so long and going from being completely knowledgeable about the phone I was using to clueless about the 1 I was getting. It was a pleasant surprise to me how quickly and easily I learned to use the S8+ after such a short time period.
In addition to being very user friendly, this device has a beautiful display, great sound, and a fantastic battery life. Though it is a little larger than the S8, the S8+ still fits comfortably in my hands while having a large enough screen to accommodate whatever apps you'd like to use. Whether streaming video, surfing the web, texting your friends, or making business calls, the Samsung Galaxy S8+ has you covered.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get a screen protector for this device that fits correctly but I'm sure this is an issue that will quickly be resolved and it's definitely not a deal breaker!
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, Built-in speakers, easy to use
Cons: no quality screen protector for device yet
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is a great phone EXCEPT that it keeps restarting this is frustrating. I googled it yesterday and found there are many people experiencing the same issue and exchanging the phone does not stop the problem. I do like the phone but wish I would have waiting a few months before upgrading to it. I'm going to try returning it tonight and going back to my Edge until they get this problem solved.
Pros: camera
Cons: restarting on average every hour
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I was excited to be in the first round of new S8+ users and was delightfully surprised at all the customization and features. I previously had a S6, so this was a decent upgrade with some features that exist within the S7 that I did not get to experience.
This phone is TRULY a smart phone! It has great predictability features in addition to so many things that make daily tasks so much easier, such as the edge feature. For me the fingerprint scanner is in a perfect and natural position and I love that I can unlock my phone in an instant using it. My favorite of all my Samsung phone and the S8 is no exception is the camera. I am looking forward to getting a lot of use out of the upgrades and so far the results are nothing less than stunning!
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight, runs cooler than previous devices.
Cons: sporadic reboots, video play crashes
I would recommend this to a friend!

PAIRING WITH A 2016 VEHICLE - NOT HAPPENING AT THIS POINT, WHICH MAKES THE BLUETOOTH IN MY VEHICLE WORTHLESS. I'M TOLD SOFTWARE TOO NEW FOR MY END OF YEAR 2016 PURCHASE OF VEHICLE. SO NO PHONE USAGE OR MUSIC BY BLUETOOTH. (DROPS IN AND OUT OF PAIRING WHEN IT WANTS TO. MUST INSTALL PHONE EACH TIME I ENTER VEHICLE. DOES NOT STAY PAIRED.
WHEN USING VOICE RATHER THAN TEXTING, PHONE TOO SLOW TO TRANSFER VOICE TO TEXT IF IT DOES AT ALL.
I'M GOING BACK TO MY SAMSUNG GALAXY S7
Pros: Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

S8+ has some good features, but a few problems

The screen and video enhancement capabilities look nice. The Google Assistant which come on the phone is extremely useful for Smart devices within the house. I've grown accustomed to using it with my Hue lights as I navigate my house. The only reason for the 3 stars is the software is a bit too buggy. Every 24 hours my settings reset (e.g. my keyboard settings and Install Unknown Sources option) I develop apps for work. This makes it annoying to deal with typing, which is used often on a smartphone. I'm too used to using the bixby button and expecting Samsung Health like on my S7. Other than the software issues, the hardware is nice. I love the big screen with its high resolution.
Pros: high resolution
Cons: software buggy

This is a seriously nice phone. I'm very impressed with how it runs. I love the nice big display and ease of operation. My only complaints are that it is almost too smooth an a little hard to hold without slipping out of my hand.
Samsung phones keep improving and again, this upgrade is the best!

Although my family members have upgraded recently, I'm coming from the Note 4. It was getting old and laggy so I decided I could no longer wait for the anticipated launch of the Note 8.
This phone is nothing less than impressive. Beautiful, blazing fast and the battery just keeps going and going.
Very easy on the eyes and comfortable to hold. I gave up hoping that someday I might see a phone with a physical qwerty keyboard but going to full buttonless seemed unnatural. Fear is quenched.
I read a few reviews complaining about the awkward position of the fingerprint sensor but it works flawlessly for me - much better and faster than the Note 4. The facial recognition is another story. I gave up on it but it's not a big deal to me.
Only gripes are the non - replaceable battery and the curved screen which makes it so hard to use a quality screen protector. That aside, I think this phone will serve me well for a while.
