Cools quickly and well

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this unit to replace a portable AC unit that we'd had for years (it had gotten moldy throughout and was making us sick). It was hard to see it go, but this unit cools even better than that one did, so we're very pleased.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This unit does a good job of cooling and doesn't take up a lot of room. Many similar units only have two fan speeds, so I appreciate this unit has three, plus has sweep mode which helps distribute the cool air. There are only two down sides, and they are about the same thing: window exhaust kit: 1) the vent has to be on the right side of the window. If you want it on the left, you have to cut your own opening in the supplied slider (not the easiest of tasks). 2) If you want to use it in multiple rooms but MAINLY in one room and you'd like to have a second window exhaust kit to make things easy, you cannot find one from Frigidaire. That oversight should be corrected ASAP.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this about a month ago, thinking it would cool better than it does. My whole house is only 520 sq ft so my bedroom isn't even 100sq ft and I have this AC unit in my bedroom I leave it on the lowest setting 24/7 and it barely keeps the room cool while the rest of the house is still hot. I wouldn't recommend this unless you have a very small area you are wanting to cool..

Hey KF17, when selecting an air conditioner, larger is not always better. A unit that is too large for the space to be cooled will actually be less effective than one that's the correct size. Humidity is extracted from the air as it is drawn over and around the cool evaporator coils of the air conditioner. Therefore, a unit that is too large for the area will cool the room air quickly and shut off the compressor. Air temperature is lowered but room humidity remains high. The oversized unit will cycle on and off frequently but the room will feel damp, clammy, and uncomfortable. Hope this is helpful! -Jennifer

Air exiting the unit is usually between 17°-20°F lower than the Intake air, and may not feel cold to the touch until the room temperature is reduced.
