Lifesaver

I started having hot flashes and could not sleep in my bedroom at night. I bought this and this has made it so I can actually sleep comfortably in my bedroom. Not sure why I waited years to do this.

Could do better

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Stylish portable AC now the coverage area is not 450 Sq feet. Doesn't cool my room as it should. When its hits 85 degrees doesnt cool as it should. This particular item is convenient because its portable but it doesn't do the job.

Great features, easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a lot quieter and more powerful than the window unit I was using. Plus it is packed with features like a timer, remote control, directional louvers. The price was a bit less than several other name brands.

Works well overall

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been overall pretty happy with my AC unit. It cools well and for the price was one of the more powerful units. My only problem with it is the display. It is very hard to read the modes. At night it is impossible unless using a flashlight.

Excellent unit, nice design, easy setup

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought 2 of these in June, and they've been running 24/7 for a month now. We have a 3-level townhouse but the central ac can't cool the top level for anything, and the summer temp on the top floor with the central ac running is typically mid to upper 70s. Not good when we want the bedrooms to be closer to 60 for sleeping comfortably. Since we rent, we're not going to pay to upgrade their ac unit, so I got these portable units to go in each bedroom on the top floor, to supplement the central ac.
Oh my goodness, I wish I'd thought to do this 10 years ago! They are fantastic!! The bedrooms are now at a constant wonderful 62 degrees! Even when it's humid and 98+ outside here in Northern Virginia.
As for how noisy it is. If you need silence for sleeping, you won't like it. I think it's about as noisy as a box fan on high. We sleep with a very loud white noise app running, so the sound of this unit just adds to it, which we like.
The units are very easy to install, if you can follow simple instructions and use a screwdriver and tape.
Since we rent, we can't drill holes into the window frame, and with the design of these units we didn't have to. The only 'tools' I used were a screwdriver and a piece of duct tape. I did not screw them to the window frame (because we're renting), but just have the weight of the window holding the insert in place and a piece of duct tape was all that was needed to secure it. The screwdriver was needed only to secure the insert slider position to itself. Our windows are wide enough (about 30" I think) that the slide insert fit fine, but if you have narrow windows you may need to cut the insert.
The only caution, as another reviewer said too, is the thin sticky gray foam will get on everything the sticky side touches. Thank you to that other reviewer, because I heeded that warning. So, I attached that thin sticky gray foam to the hard plastic window insert, not to the window frame.
I would (and have already) highly recommend this unit, and would definitely buy it again.
I'm now thinking I may even get another unit for the main floor. :-D

What we wanted

Set up was easy, although illustration of vent kit and application could be made a bit clearer with some additional details. I modified install from suggested, using vent kit materials provided, but not screwing filler to frame or sash. Operation is simple and effective for our application and needs.

not that satisfied!!

I bought this month ago for my living room. I thought 10000Btu is enough for my living which is not that big but it didn't make my room cool as i expected. May be it is good for small close room. Also sometime the AC remote doesn't communicate well with Ac even it is new.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
