Gets the job done

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought it a month ago for a apartment twice the coverage area it's listed for. My apartment came with a 5000 BTU good for 350 square feet. Running that all day everyday did nothing unless I sat directly in front of it. The Frigidaire was easy to install and so far it has performed really well and better than expected. The timer is a great feature so I can set it to turn on 30 minutes before I expect to be home. I usually run it after work until I go to work and my bill has only been about $40 more than normal. It keeps my apartment cold the way I like and prefer to sleep in.

Wont cool when very hot outside

I have found that it works fine when it is less than 85 degrees outside but not when higher. I found that a window unit works better for hot weather. I assume because a window unit does not suck cool air from inside of the room to cool the compressor and then blow it outside. Instead a window unit cools the compressor using outside air which keeps the cool air inside of the room. I wish there was a compressor cool air intake hose option as well as the existing exhaust hot air hose. That might solve the problem.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This unit is a great disappointment

I just bought this unit to cool a 11 x 10 room which it did not do. Bought it for my son to keep him cool at nights a grave disappointment.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Goodness! Becky38, air exiting the air conditioner is usually between 17°F - 20°F lower than the intake air, and may not feel cold to the touch until the ambient temperature is reduced. If your space is not well insulated, this can account for the environment being hotter as the cool air has no place to “stay” and escapes the area quickly. Some Design Flaws

Better than the competition

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have other portable ac units and they don't compare to the features and functions of this unit. This unit cools faster and more area than those with the same btu rating. The unit is heavy and heavy duty. Expect this to last for years.
