Finally a quality built refrigerator !!

I purchased the model with fingerprint resistant stainless steel. After trying two units made by GE (which were total failures), I decided to look at the Maytag brand. The compressor is very quiet (unlike the GE). The ice maker is in the door and makes enough ice for my family of 4. The ice\water dispenser is very easy to use. The refrigerator side has a lot of room. The freezer side also has a lot of room thanks to the in-door ice maker. The refrigerator is well lit with LED light. I especially like the cubed ice option which is actually a real cube shape. The dispenser lights up when in use. Keep in mind that Whirlpool owns the Maytag brand, so this unit is comparable to Whirlpool model # WRS586FIEM. The only differences are the ice\water dispenser controls, the color of the trim on the interior shelves and bins, the door handles, the door finish, energy use and the brand name on the door.

Very spacious

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this refrigerator for around a month. For those concerned with noise, this fridge is very quiet except when the ice drops into the bucket located in the door and when it's being dispensed. To me, this is typical and completely acceptable. The compressor is quiet and doesn't come on very often or for long periods of time. I only gave it 4 stars because I feel that Maytag erred in removing the shelf adjustability as is seen in almost every other model/brand industry-wide. You are very limited in your shelf adjustment configuration. I had it right where I wanted it and then the door couldn't close due to the shelf alignment coupled with the door compartment bin. The only other 2 complaints I have are minor but should be considered. 1. When removing the bins you MUST push the door back so far that you are convinced it will damage the unit. This MUST be done in order for the bin to come out. 2. The LED lights are awesome BUT Maytag could have gone with a flush mount design. The light protrudes down from the top. It can interfere with placement of items and bottom line- it's in the way when it doesn't have to be.

Better than expected!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We’ve had our fridge for a couple of weeks; thus far, it’s been great. We love the indoor ice compartment and the size of the ice cubes (mini rounded pyramids). Lots of room and wonderfully designed shelving that is easily adjustable. Normal refrigerator sounds of ice dropping into tray and water filling in ice maker aren’t too noticeable in our open floor plan home. Haven’t noticed any annoying compressor sounds or humming noises as commonly found with refrigerators. At this point, we can say that we love it and it was a wise investment.

I am thrilled with the side by side model and it's amazing capacity and how whisper quiet it runs. I am thrilled. I was also pleased by the warranty offered by Maytag, too. It's been a beautiful and functional addition to my new kitchen. Love it!!!

Ice Maker Water Dispenser

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Nice unit but ice and water dispenser couse refining. Cube dispensor crushes every other cube. No big deal but the ice is not funneled to the cup so ice shavings go everywhere. Using the push buttons works okay but the cup button is too recessed the ice dispenses in frint of the cup. Water is not chilled until ice is added.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a side by side gal and when redoing my kitchen I wanted a smudge proof side by side to replace my 11 yr old black whirlpool with water and ice in the door and similar configuration. This maytag fit the bill. It is pictured with the deli drawer not directly on top of produce drawers but it can easily be moved in that configuration which also allows more options for large items and shelf movement in the door. It really should be set up this way from the factory otherwise you will have problems utilizing the door shelves. The ice and water is great and some noises at times but quieter than anticipated. Get a stainless steel water hose for the connection. The other plus is the smudge proof works fine with other smudge proof manufacturers if you like another brand dishwasher etc. The smudge proof stainless is great and magnetic.
