[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted to wait to review this refrigerator in case something happened and so that I could get to know the fridge more. We ended up going down in size since we are empty nesters and everyone said "oh, you wont like a counter depth"....well, they could NOT have been more incorrect. We love it. The fridge makes our large kitchen look even larger. I wasn't sure about the steel - we were use to black, but the steel bounces more light and makes the kitchen appear updated. The fridge has run perfectly. The water, when called, is a little loud, but that's because of where the icemaker is located...and quite frankly, my husband (who hates noise) has grown completely accustom to it. I find that I shop a little different and am making different portions, but I can still have all the kids and their families come over and have PLENTY of room in the fridge. I ended up using the bottom drawer for my apples and oranges while the other two larger drawers are for veggies and cheese/lunch meats. That made a huge difference compared to my over sized old fridge. During my decision making process, I took a HUGE tupperware cake container and my largest rectangular rubbermaid container to the store with me...yes, everyone looked at me like I was nuts, but I put them into this counter depth fridge and they more than fit!!!! As a matter of fact, they fit like my old big fridge. That made my final decision since this fridge not only had everything we wanted (top inside water filter for easy changes, doors with handles that I could open easily...even with my hand and arm medical issues, etc, etc)
I can honestly say that we know we have other appliances that will have to be replaced soon...and have already decided to go with Maytag. I'm done with the other brands that I've had and I love the fact that I'm supporting my fellow American's by purchasing something made in the USA. I highly recommend it.

Great Refrigerator...BUT....

I bought my refrigerator a month ago and I do love it! The counter depth makes a huge difference in my small kitchen. It looks great and I've received many compliments on it. Now that I've had some time to get used to it, I've noticed a few things that are by far NOT show stoppers....BUT..., I have some feedback for Maytag (for improvements of course :) ) - this is why 4 vs 5 stars
*I understand the noise of the ice maker since it is in the door vs. back of freezer like my old refrigerator and I've adjusted to it. However, overall this one seems to make louder noises when it's running, not sure if that can be fixed or not - maybe some form of insulation. Considering my old refrigerator made a lot of noise I was hoping a new one would be more quiet... and yes, I understand the new efficiency etc - still, one would expect modern technology to solve for some of these things.
*The door handles - great design but they are hollow (or at least sound like they are) perhaps filling the handles with a foam or Styrofoam so they don't sound so 'tin-ish'.
*The butter drawer /shelf (at the top inside of the door) - when you open it, it slams back and is pretty loud. I solved this for me by putting some felt pads on the back of the shelf so when it is opened, it hits the felt and isn't as loud - perhaps adding a rubber strip to the back of the shelf door would help.
*Lastly, and probably the most annoying is the top shelf of the refrigerator. It is about 1/2"-3/4" to high (see enclosed pictures). With the light fixture at the top it's difficult to put a gallon jug (yes, I know you can put the jug in the door but I've always used the top shelf) on the shelf without having to tilt it to avoid hitting the light - or worse yet, if someone were to pull out a gallon jug possibly damaging the light cover. If the shelf was lowered just a bit, that wouldn't be an issue and it would be possible to 'easily' fit a gallon jug on the top shelf and ultimately wouldn't take away from the rest of the storage space.
And for those considering to buy... there is a 'defrost' feature that occasionally sounds like water is dripping - it is, into the drain pan, which is normal. I thought there may have been a problem with the water line and was searching for water on the floor or down the back of the refrigerator... Thankfully, I looked in the trouble-shooting guide and it explained some of the noises and what to expect. All is ok, now that I know what to expect.

Like others, this fridge is freezing food

I bought a house with new Maytag appliances. Less than 1 year after my 3-year warranty on this fridge, the refrigerator side is freezing food (and it says it's set at 41 degrees). Common theme I'm seeing in these reviews. Peanut butter and sauces are hard, some produce has frozen and I've had to throw it out. So frustrating. Our Maytag microwave light broke (and difficult to replace), and our Maytag oven won't get up to temp and is inconsistent. I'm sorry Maytag, you've lost my business.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Sleek Counter Depth Design and Great Value!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so pleased with the design of this refrigerator! It is by far the most aesthetically pleasing counter depth refrigerator that I came across. The price was great compared to other options. The adjustable shelves are easy to move and clean. I love how easy it is to access the ice maker from inside and outside of the door. Very pleased! Matching range and microwave are on my wish list!

New Fridge

This new fridge has been a godsend in my house especially with the current state of the world. The freezer has been able to handle the heavy load and the fridge has been keeping the fruits and veggies fresh for weeks. I also love that the ice cube bucket is in the door which allows more storage in the freezer.

Our new Maytag works great, and is easy to use. The ice bin is very accessible, and so easy to use. It's very roomy, well designed, and looks great, too.
