Terrible Bluetooth audio lag
on December 14, 2017

Bought these headphones considering newer phones don't have audio jack anymore, so it was time to invest in some Bluetooth headset. I wanted to get the best, and all the praise about Bose on the Internet made me buy this overpriced.... wonder. Turns out Bose just has extremely good marketing, but that doesn't match the actual product.
These headphones don't have USB-C, so they charge sloooooooowly, and of course will not be compatible with our chargers in the near future, when Micro-USB actually disappears. But this is just the less annoying problem, also clearly mentioned on the product page, so can live with it.
But, then comes the unexpected surprise: Bluetooth audio lag! It is awful, the lag is around 0.5 sec, which is unacceptable. Using the headphones while gaming either on the phone or on the PC is impossible. Watching movies is also not enjoyable due to the lip sync problems. The only thing these can be used for is listening to music, which is a pretty small subset of usage scenarios one buys a pair of headphones for.
Tried to reach out to the support, who according to the support page - great marketing again - "we'll make sure we respond within 24 hours.", but got zero response in a week.
So I had to do my own research, to find out these headphones don't support aptX Low Latency or LDAC codec, and this is something that was somehow not mentioned in the tech specs anywhere. Like assuming we were all audio experts before buying something. Most likely these will never be implemented either, so the audio lag practically cannot be fixed, the hardware is simply not capable of any better.
It's a shame though, these would be so great headphones otherwise! They are super comfortable, pairing worked like a bliss, sound quality is OK (not superb, but quite good), and noise cancelling is plain awesome. I still can't understand how they could sell these for this price and not implement some low latency codec.
I'm very disappointed, most likely have to keep them as an overpriced paperweight. Please consider these before buying not to end up like me!
Bottom line: without the Bluetooth audio lag, and with USB-C, these would be not just 5 star, but PERFECT headphones. If Bose ever made those, I'd surely buy. Again...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this a while back in-store on a whim to either replace my (Bose) earbuds or (Steelseries old model) gaming headset. Immediately fell in love with the noise cancelling and regularly take it to the bar or coffee shop to write. The output volume is quite high and can be set higher with proper configuration settings on your computer or smartphone. The quality doesn't drop as you increase volume louder and by the time the distortion starts, your headphones will be vibrating lol. The mic is good for phone calls. Haven't bought the additional piece to get the stereo mix voice output for gaming. For that you will have to play wired. No biggie though since I end up gaming with an external stand mic. Also the fact that these have amazing noise cancelling and sound levels will cause paranoia while fps gaming. You have no idea how many footsteps you're not picking up until you try these for a spin. These also easily replaced my earbuds as I only use them now for running/high intensity stuff. One of many great products I've loved from Bose. Keep it up!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My only complaint is I haven't been able to get them to work with the audio jack for inflight entertainment on my last 6 flights. I have tried each of the seats in my row

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had an older pair of the QC 35s that used the single AAA battery. I was flying one day and the battery was dead and I had no replacement. The guy sitting in front of me had a new pair so I asked if he had a spare battery. He told he didn’t and his were rechargeable. I knew I had to have those. The sound is still very clear I love the cable to plug into the airplane system when watching a movie, yes I fly a lot.
The quality of Bose can’t be beat. My wife had the older Bose and wanted new headphones and she bought the Beats. Used them for about 3 months sold them online and went back to Bose. I knew she should’ve never left.
Quality in workmanship and sound make them the best I’ve ever had or listened to. Great work.

Durability/Design - Do not buy

Just came in the mail.
Excited.
Custom QC35II with American colors.
The ear cups are soft, but cannot be used in excess as they will deteriorate fairly quickly.
Biggest issue to me is the cheap thin 2.5 mm aux. I use bluetooth when I can, but create a lot of music, and bluetooth lags in tracks.
I thought the aux in the box would be sufficient, but alas I am wrong. You would have thought you were using different (poor quality) headphones when compared to the bluetooth.
After looking forward to the headphones from being a Bose customer for some years, it was disappointing to see the company produce such a mediocre experience.
Sony WH-1000XM3 are superior and at a more reasonable price point for those looking to leave the Bose ecosystem.
