Excellent Noise Cancelling and comfort- though...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the new quiet comfort 35 II to replace my old Bose headphones ( left on a plane).
I really like the comfort and noise cancellation. the Bluetooth works well with my iPhone/ not so great with my Dell Laptop. The audio cable is too short and the fact that Bose used a combo of 2.5mm and 3.5mm is TERRIBLE - this makes finding replacement cables a pain - VERY POOR engineering choice and I almost gave 3 stars due to this flaw.

Very good for listening, unusable for calls.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought these to use as replacements for my cheap in-ear headset I've used for years. The noise cancellation is very good, but it does not block voices well (This is a problem with physics, not these headphones).
But these are garbage to make calls with. I was on a conference call today, and others couldn't hear each other because my dishwasher was on in the next room. The mic seems to want to pick up any distracting noise it can, be it keyboard keys, voices from 30 feet away, a bag crinkling in the kitchen, or my armrest squeak, and turn the volume on that up to where it sounds like it's piped through a megaphone on the other end.
The passthrough mode letting you hear your own voice (to avoid you shouting) does the same thing, and the sounds are so loud in your ears it becomes hard to keep a thought in your head and speak. The app gives you no control over this horrendous passthrough mode.
I was willing to spend $30 on a wired third-party mic to go along with these, but for some reason Bose decided to put a 2.5mm audio jack instead of the standard 3.5mm one. This is a decision I struggle to comprehend. Is the one benefit that people are likelier to replace their cable with a Bose brand one, since nobody has one lying around?
Final minor gripe is why do these still use micro-USB?
I am returning these, as they are literally unusable for their intended purpose of being a headset (with microphone). I am a fan of Bose, and am shocked and intensely disappointed that they would allow these to go out with a microphone that's this unusable. (and in a second-gen, too).

Hi Brian!

It's great that you think so highly of these headphones for listening, but I too am disappointed you have been unable to use them successfully on calls!

While I appreciate you are planning on returning these I would love to give you some tips to try before you do!

If you find you are getting a lot of background noise while on a call, you will find the microphone in these headphones is tuned to pick up typical frequencies of a human voice. The volume is automatically adjusted for softer or louder voices. If the other noises are in this frequency range that may be picked up more while you are not talking.

To avoid this there are some things you can do! You can mute the microphone while you are not using it by pressing Volume + and Volume – together. You would also want to make sure they are working at their full potential by updating them from here: https://bose.life/3ayAvOI

Poor Material Quality

This is my second Bose noise-cancelling headphone, and it has sown the same poor material quality of the first one, with the difference that it occurred much sooner than with the previous one. I bought it in July of 2018. In April of 2020, after carefully using only during air travel, the covering material of the left-side phone started to come off, exposing the internal foam. I cannot believe the quality of the material is so poor in such an expensive and high-quality sound equipment. I am really very disappointed with the product.

Hello Jordan,

The cushions are made from a protein leather, which can naturally deteriorate over time with use. This can be accelerated by environmental factors such as heat and humidity.

The great news is that the cushions are user-replaceable, which greatly extends the lifespan of the headphones. If you need to obtain replacement cushions, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

Bought this about a month ago for my husband. Didn't realize he had these headphones before. They hurt his ears. He tried looking for better ear pads, but they don't sell them. Too expensive for any discomfort to be present. They work ok otherwise

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really cool that you can customize the colors. I didn't do it tho. Got mine a couple of years ago while in college to block out everyone while I studied at school. I wear them literally every day because I don't like to disturb my family. Most comfortable headphones I have ever had. Noise cancelation is great. Sound is great. Works well for answering calls. The ear peices started tearing about a month ago. I know I could buy replacements but don't think it is worth it for me. A couple of months after I bought them I started to hear a noise/sound when my music or a video was paused. The best way I can describe it is when you power on the headphones and the noise cancelation turns on. It happens on each nc setting in 3-10 second intervals. It doesn't do it if something is playing and I turn the media volume all the way down. I put up with it for so long because I figured I'd just buy the next new pair bose comes out with or maybe try a different brand. Still love them. My buddy has a pair as well and really likes them. Also always kept them up to date using the bose connect app. Tried uploading pics but it wouldn't let me :/

Wrong Color on customized

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The headphone is good and works fine. However the customization did not work well. They used a different tone of blue in one of the headphone cups. Probably a different batch of paint or a mistake.

Color issue

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently ordered and received a custom color pair of these, super excited and still happy just somewhat disappointed in the colors listed versus what you get... Ideally I would have made these all matte black with a pink highlight, but Matte isn't an option so I went with the sparkles, aka "Metallic Black"... well it should actually be listed as "Metallic Gun metal" or something along those lines because it is NOT BLACK. I'm still happy with the quality just not the color. Friendly heads up! If it were actually black like it should be it'd be 5 stars.
