good unit to make healthy smoothies

I bought the NutriBullet 900 - the second generation with a bigger 900 watt motor. Now there is a 3rd generation that makes soup, so I may get that one. What's great about the NutriBullet is the easy clean up. You drink your smoothie out of the container you made it in. The only thing that can't go in the dishwasher are the blades. I would like to know how often those should be washed, as I tend to use the NutriBullet everday and not hand wash the blades very often because I use the dishwasher most of the time. There is one design flaw. On the tall cup the "fill" line is at the same height as the smaller cup. So if you follow that printed line on the cups then you put no more ingredients into the tall cup than you would the small cup. So I fill up the tall cup to the level I think is OK for the machine. The booklet they sent is well produced. But there is one discussion missing which is important to some of us. There is a line of thinking in nutrition that advocates proper food combining. People that follow this don't mix fruits and vegetables together in the same meal. I would lke to see this discussed by the nutrition expert who pitches this product - David Wolfe.

Owned less than 30 days, use daily, motor just stopped and base won't unlock cup. Of course, after hours for customer service/support!!! Soooo frustrating to spend so much money for a product that doesn't last 30 days!

It leaks

It is hard to write a review on this machine, because while I love the concept, I have a problem with it. It leaks. It is only 2 months old. The liquid goes down thru the machine and out the bottom. very messy. And there is no way of cleaning inside the bottom section. I screw the blades on as far as possible. I don't over fill with liquid. What am I doing wrong? I continue to use it as the juices are great. I purchased it on ebay from the UK and it is too complicated to send it back from here. I am super disappointed.

Hard to use. Had to replace the base after 3 uses because it was smoking. Have to hold down the container on rhe base to get it to run. It leaked several times.

It is very difficult to get the switch to engage. I am afraid I am going to break the taps off of the unit when I try to force it down in order for it to work. This is very frustrating.

This is an easy way to get your fruits and vegetables. And the result is delicious.
But be aware that this model has a defect. The blades will leak, causing a mess in the top of the unit. I just learned that although the blades are covered by warranty, I need to pay the shipping. Even though I paid good money for an extended warranty which is good to year 2020. The issues is that it was a gift. so if you have received this as a gift, you must do the very rude thing of asking for the receipt if you want your warranty to be complete. AND when I registered my warranty, because I didn't have a receipt they used the manufacture date as the start date of the warranty. I appealed strenuously, and was granted a couple of extra months, but I was not allowed to start my warranty on the day I received the gift or the day I started using it.
Given that the blade issue is a known defect (you can read about this in many places) I feel that this policy is so unfair. Looks like I'll need to be getting a new blade every 30 days, based on the lifespan of the first one. We do not use this to grind hard things - just leafy veggies, cauliflower and soft fruit.
If I were shopping for this (not a gift) I would look at the Ninja or the Vitamix options.
