I've tried other products looking to get healthy smoothies (Ninja, assorted high-speed blenders, etc.). They all promised smooth drinks with no grit or chunks. None of them worked well and each were returned just days after purchasing. Either they made gritty smoothies, were difficult to keep clean, or they were WAY too loud; one Ninja even routinely bogged down and had a smoking smell.
The NutriBullet PRO was a pleasant surprise. Super easy to use, well built, relatively quiet, and it came with a variety of different size cups and lids, as well as a book with several recipes. I usually use the large container, putting in whole pieces of kale, cashews, apple slices, frozen strawberries, and a whole carrot, along with a liquid to get things going like coconut water, orange juice or almond milk. In less than 30 seconds I have a tasty, healthy smoothie with the consistency of a milkshake! I can get our daughter to eat veggies this way; she never eats veggies normally.
Cleaning is easy. For the first month, we washed the container by hand - a couple drops of dish soap and hot water and running the NutriBullet PRO for a few seconds, then rinsing. This left a film on the plastic container. Now we just hand wash the blade base and run the cup through the dishwasher, and it comes out like new. My wife makes a "bullet" to take with her on the ride to work every morning, and I will have a bullet after my workout. Haven't tried using it for making soups yet but looking forward to it.
If there were NutriBullet PROs in every office kitchen, school cafeteria and dorm room across the country I think we would have a much healthier nation.

Two shakes a day for six weeks and I went from a personal high of 172 pounds down to my normal weight of 152-155; incredible! By spreading the word several relatives and friends have attained similar results.

i bought this to make smoothies (mostly green ones), BUT as i tried it the first time I had juice all over. The blade cap was put on tight, but still the juice managed to get out. I tried multiple times to tighten it but it still managed to leak. No matter what I do or what fruit or veggies I use, it continues to leak and make a mess and get into the base(which is the motor). So I have put it away for now.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
