This receiver is installed on a boat I purchased over 6 months ago. I have had nothing but trouble getting the bluetooth connection to work. I downloaded and installed the latest drivers, and it seemed to be improved. But pretty soon the connection to an iPad will not start. The only way to correct this is to disconnect the power from the receiver, and fully restart it. Then reconnect your (only 2) devices, and all is well for a few days. Then you have to rinse and repeat
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wiring harness does not match old Sony.

Nice unit, but install made much more complicated because the wiring harness is different from my 10 year old Sony CDX-F50M that I had to replace bcause it was stuck in demo mode. All wires the same, just a different plug. Why change?

After installing the unit learning how to operate it and getting the features to work IS a freak show! I'm sure that the English language version was translated through many different languages first because the sentence structure makes it very difficult to follow. I'll have to see what I can figure out. ALSO, the gage of the wires is far too small, the harness should be at least 16 or 18 gage, and the speaker wires should be no less than 14 (using the 14 made the sound improve!) AND the Bluetooth connection requires an app on the phone and still doesn't connect properly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
