Game changer

My realtor purchased this unit for us as a closing gift on our new house because I had discussed my intentions to make my home a smart home. I left it in the closet for 3 months because my internet provider convinced me that their 'panoramic WiFi' would be the business.. it is NOT the business. I went back and did research on Orbi and decided to set it up and all I can say is WOW. I have smart lights, 4 computers, 2 iPhones, 2 smart tv's, smart lock, 4 echo smart speakers, smart garage unit, 4 wireless home security cameras and I'm running at 50-70mbs faster on Orbi! Stunned by the speed everyone I test speed and o test speed all the time all over the house. No holes in coverage all across the house. My security cameras are netgear as well and they are great so I'm not surprised this product is off the charts too. Nice work Netgear - you came through for me again.

Works perfect!!!

Read many of the reviews (positive and negative) prior to making this purchase and decided it was a good fit. It replaced my D-Link DIR-868L, which was having frequent network drops and areas in my home with weak coverage. Installed Orbi in about 30 minutes and it was easy to set up and now I have zero network drops, and zero dead spots or weak zones. I ran a speed test before and after from 6 different areas in my home and the Orbi has given me more than twice the speed in every area of my home and it is a consistent speed. The old D-Link router was not consistent with the speeds (going from 52MBps to 18 while sitting in the same location). I love this system and it was worth the money. My Firestick would constantly be loading while watching movies and shows and would even be slow when navigating. Now, it works as it should with no load waits in the middle of a movie or show.

Great Upgrade

I have a 4200 sq ft single story home with brick exterior and large stone fireplace in the middle. Previously I was running a combination of 5 Apple Airport Extreme and Express to cover every square inch including Ring front doorbell and back pool. Recently we have been moving away from Apple products and noticed the network was not playing nice with none Apple products. After a lot of research I purchased an Orbi router with two satellites. These three units replaced all 5 of the Apple and provide solid wifi everywhere in my house and around. My internet is 80/80 and I get 80/80 at every point in my house, which is something the apple products could not do. My work laptop and Andriod phone also experience less dropouts moving around the house, where with the Apple products they seemed to get stuck on one. All in all the Orbi solution is expensive, but does an excellent job.

Great Upgrade For My WIFI
on May 29, 2019

My previous system was based on the cable company router and a basic extender. The 2.4 ghz channel was overwhelmed when I added several items to the net. At first thought it was my phone and I almost purchased a new phone. Luckily I found that my WIFI system was not up to the task and started looking for an upgrade with more power and range. I settled on the Orbi AC2200 designed for a home of about 3500 sq. ft. or less. The instructions suggest turning off the modem's router first. Scary, but turned out to be easily done on-line. The rest was easy to install and works great. I have TV's, a printer, three thermostats, two phones, a Blue Ray player, Echo and two tablets and all are performing as expected. Very nice system.

Orbi ac2200

I had been mulling over what to do about our wi-fi situation for a while. With 2 daughters, wife and me all on wi-fi, and 6-10 devices running. I chose the Orbi ac 2200 for the main reasons of the mesh system and the tri-band. This way the entire house is covered, there are no more dead areas, and the main unit is in constant contact with the 2nd unit (beacon I could call it). I was concerned about setting it up via a smart phone (which I don't have yet), but after turning the main unit on and plugging in the beacon, I started my pc and it came up to the NetGear home page. A few simple steps and we were up and running. As far as speed on my i3 desktop, I went from 37.5 Mbps to 49.8, and have been staying in that area with multiply devices running. I'm quite happy with this system, and really glad I didn't choose to just upgrade the router, which could have cost about the same, if not more.

Orbi Ease

I'm not technologically ignorant, nor am I a tech genius. Just an average person with a few gadgets. As my family moves into a more internet heavy lifestyle, I needed something that would reach all parts of the house. Our home is a brick split level with about 1900 sq ft. Our wireless router would not reach the bedrooms or front of the house. We tried a booster, but the service was spotty at best and only lasted about a year. I read up on various reviews and was torn between the Orbi and the Eero. I chose the Orbi and I am glad I did. The set up was as easy as promised, although I had to use my kid's phone to set it up (mine isn't new enough for the app and I couldn't get the pc version to work). I now have the strongest signal I have ever had, the tv's in the bedroom don't buffer continuously and everyone in the family is happy. We have only been installed for about a week, but so far, so good.

Perfect Solution

We needed something to cover 3 separate buildings adequately and allow up to 8 devices access to the satellite internet service we have at home. After researching online, I finally settled on this product with the understanding that if it did not fit our needs we could return it to any store of the chain we purchased it from. I have to say, I will not be needing to do that. It took me about 30 minutes from opening the box to zipping along on my iPad while my grandson played his online games and his mother used her VOIP phone calls and husband was surfing the net looking for non electronic activities we could do as a family. Never a glitch, hiccough, blip or dropped call the entire time they were here for a visit. THAT was the definition of success for us. We are quite happy with our Choice and feel the price was more than fair for the ease of installation and lack of frustration with dropped signals.

So Simple

I work in the IT field for a living. I do have to say this was by far the easiest setup of a router that I've done.
I have passthrough setup on my dsl modem. This typically means setting up ppoe manually on the router. To my surprise. I went through the Orbi auto configuration wizard which detected my passthrough setup. The Orbi set up with ease. Because I was curious, I reset my dsl modem, configured it without passthrough, and went back through Orbi setup. The Orbi detected my internet connection and changed the dhcp scope to avoid any potential conflicts with my ISP.
Not to mention all the parental controls. Kids playing on the internet. I get, "Dad let me finish my game until I die." I pull the app up and kill the connection to their computer with the click of a button. Dead! What's not to like about that.
To say the least, even if your not IT savvy, this Orbi is the router for you.
