Incredibly Convenient

From the setup, to using the app, to the internet speeds the Orbi was one of the best purchases I've made. The setup was very simple, with an easy to navigate app. It gave clear, simple instructions that made the process overall satisfying. The satellites have incredible range, and have Ethernet ports on the back to connect directly to your devices such as computers. My Download speed before the Orbi was around 20. After I purchased the Orbi and ran a speed test it went to over 80, sometimes even reaching 90. The upload speed had the same effect, going from around 3 to over 12. The app in itself is a great way to manage which devices to enable, what websites to block, and even turn of the internet access temporarily. Overall this is an incredible system that both boosts your WiFi's range, power, and an amazing app for control over your internet.

Learn from my mistake...

Let's be honest, all of us with thick walls in older homes struggle with WiFi, it's just a fact. So, we try the little plug in extenders, we try signal boosters, we would try snake oil if it worked. After I tried all of the things (Disclosure - I couldn't find snake oil...), I realized than none of them did the job, none of them. So, I researched and poked and prodded and at all the options and I landed on Orbi. It only took me 20 minutes to install it, but only because I have FiOS, which requires an extra step. Still, I looked it up and did it, and I'm no computer wizard... At any rate, now there are no dead spots in my brick-walled house. My kids are on all the video games and streaming things and I can actually work. If you're thinking about getting Orbi, stop thinking and just get. Learn from my mistake and save yourself the headaches. -E

Fantastic Product

Let's start with where I put the main hub - in a cabinet. I know, your not supposed to block the signal by putting it in a cabinet, but I've got aesthetics to consider. Still, I get fantastic and consistent performance from Orbi. Just to note ... my original equipment from Spectrum gave me 75 MBs download (when I pay for 400 and expect about 200 through WiFi). I tried a Nighthawk X6 and that gave me 25 to 50. Orbi gives me 150 to 300 consistently.
One of the things to keep in mind is that while Orbi does have the 5 and 2.4 GHz Settings, they both use the same name and Orbi routes the traffic accordingly. This confused me at first because I was expecting the different settings. Also, to install, you need the Orbi app, which makes things so much easier ... though I wish it would stop prompting me to install circle.
All in all, a great product.

Even Better Upgrade Than Expected

We decided to upgrade our home (cable company provided) router, because we had some dead zones in our house and lots of buffering problems when trying to stream Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. This system is amazing. We now get full strength wi-fi signal to every corner of our home, and we even get signal out in the garage and around the house outside in the yard. The buffering for our streaming services (Netflix, Prime, and we've now added DirecTV Now) has been eliminated. We expected a bit better Wi-fi signal inside the house and improvement with the buffering. We did not expect this much of a signal improvement (being able to pick up wi-fi outside the house) nor did we expect the buffering to be pretty much completely eliminated. We are super pleased with our upgrade and will definitely recommend to anyone we talk to that is looking to upgrade their router.

Quick and Easy to set up, long range+fast internet

I live in a 2800 sqft 2 story home, my previous router only reached 1/4 to 1/2 of the house. My speeds were 100mbps with ethernet, 100mbps if you were in the same room wifi, but only at most 30mbps anywhere else in the house (if you could connect). The setup was quick and easy, download the app on your phone. Plug in the router, connect via the app, and it does everything else itself. It does take a minute or two (literally 60-120seconds to calibrate/configure). Now I get 5 bars(full connection) throughout most of my house, and receiving about 100% of speed around 100mbps. You could be in the next room over and still get those speeds. Next room over from the router OR the satellite. If you're about 2 or 3 rooms away then you'll get 50mbps which is much better than before. So far no issues, I simply received the product, installed it, updated firmware and thats it.

Surprise and Delight

The Orbi was and is definitely an upgrade over my old router, especially since pulling the cord on cable and doing all streaming TV.The Orbi with 2 Satellites is doing the job of covering my entire home with Wifi. I have a 3 story, old house and had ethernet cables running all over the house which was ugly.The Orbi eliminated the ugly wires and wirelessly is allowing me to stream live tv on 3 TVs while kids game on PS4 and on PC.The Orbi also eliminated time outs and connection errors when streaming live TV which occurred regularly using our old router.I'm using Mac Book Pros which I was worried would be a problem using anything but an Apple Product with, but it's been seamless and I am very pleased.I was considering giving it 4 stars because of the price, but when compared with other Mesh systems, this one is right there in the range.Very pleased with this purchase.

Great Coverage

I've tried a few different repeaters, extenders, etc. including Apple Airport, Linksys Velop and others. This system seems as good, if not better than any. One advantage of some others is the ability to repeat a current network using the same SSID. The Orbi does not seem to do that. It cannot extend an existing SSID and use that same SSID. However, the Orbi seems to have better coverage - a stronger signal. I've used it in Router Mode and AP Mode. I've also used it without disabling the current modem's WiFi. In Router Mode, it avoided the conflict and assigned its address as 10.0.0.1 '¦ and that worked fine. Some Internet pages didn't load at first, but after the IP conflict was resolved, all pages loaded fine - all is well. Most will probably use this to replace a router and assign it with that SSID. I am using it as an additional WiFi with its own SSID and it's great.

Orbi Made my Wi-Fi Great Again

I have been using the same Linksys wireless router for the past 11 years. My internet provider give me 100 MBPS download speed and was receiving nothing close to that. The fastest speed that I would get out of my existing router was 15 MBPS down and in certain parts of the house, only a max of 5 MBPS. Well I had had enough. With advice from my brother and father (yes, my dad was more advanced than me) I purchased the Orbi with one Satellite. Wow. After installing, I was immediately getting around 160 MBPS on Wi-FI down. In the back bedroom, we normally had to turn off our Wi-Fi and use our phone data. Well, not anymore! Even in my basement office I am receiving over 100 MPS and in the garage. The Orbi is truly amazing. I would advise anyone who is using an old router to spend the money on the Orbi. It will pay for itself instantly. Say goodbye to slow Wi-Fi speeds forever!
