The Sherpa 5 Rocks!

I really like using the Sherpa 50 to power my signal processors for my guitar at the live music venues I participate in - it lets me setup quickly and frees me from dependence on what a venue may or may not provide - the sound board techs appreciate it, too! I use it this way with the inverter - I could/would use a second AC outlet on the inverter with these low power devices.

I'm fully satisfied with the equipment, but I have one suggestion: insert a male car recharger cable with the power pack, to recharge the batteries during the travel, more quickly than the solar panels.

Bought this and the Nomad 13's to charge my DSLR batteries while on a caribou hunt.......no other sources of power. Worked perfectly with my battery charger plugged into the 12v outlet. Panels will charge the Sherpa each day while we hunt. Highly recommend this product. Testing is done and the real deal hunt is in less than a month!

I use this to take camping and recharge electronic devices, especially a cell phone. Because it can do several charges for a cell phone, I think it would be very useful to have two USB ports instead of one to make it more practical for a small group of friends to use. I'm not a solitary hiker. The inverter for this power pack is modified sine wave. This is written in the specifications, but should perhaps be better explained in the product description. This can prevent a notice user from assuming that just because it has an AC outlet it can power any household appliance. You must buy a much heavier lead-acid battery based power pack to get pure sine wave and the higher wattage capabilities required for most household items. The Sherpa 50 powered my 24" LCD monitor for 26 minutes before before shutting itself off to avoid overheating. The battery indicator showed 40% power remaining at that point. The amount of continuous power that my LCD screen requires is obviously beyond the abilities of the Sherpa 50. It powered an electric fan for about an hour before running out of juice. The fan says 75W on its rear sticker, but I assume that is for the "high" setting. I was using the lowest setting so I don't know what the actual wattage consumption was. One more thing: Find a way to shield the Sherpa 50 from the sun while it's charging. Just because the solar panels are happy to soak up the sun's ray don't assume the same for the power pack itself. If I could go back and buy this product again, I would, but I'd likely go for a Nomad 27M panel rather than the Nomad 13 that's included in the kit.

Works great for a quick camping trip , charging phones or a laptop while on fishing trips or hunting trips. Very suprised that the small size produces so much power
