I bought the Sherpa 50 battery and inverter for my husband for his birthday... we've been plugging all sorts of electronics into it and are very pleased with the power and convenience that they provide. Along with the solar panels we already own, we will get a ton of use out of this!

Flexible, Easy to Use

The Sherpa 50 is a great tool to have on hand for emergencies. Built in LED light, USB port to charge a small device, built in power adapter to charge a laptop. My 13" MacBook Air can get a couple hours of extended use. I have two of these units and left one with family during Hurricane Sandy, and it was a relief knowing that they could at least keep their phones charged if power went out. I use these primarily when photographing remotely with multiple Nomad 27 and 13.5 units. Keep it out of the sun when charging if you can help it, just tuck it under the solar panels and you'll be good. I also try not to charge my MacBook air off of the unit while it is charging in the sun in a warm environment, as the power adapter on my Mac will get hot, the power inverter fan kicks on in the Sherpa, and if the Air is running, that fan turns on, as well. A must have in remote environments, for emergencies, great for use on a train or plane with a notebook, as well.

I use this adv motorcycle riding AND camping. Great for recharging my small GPS and for lights in the tent. I will also use it as an emergency backup for home use so they are mostly always charged and ready to go-I have yet to find a pack that is as small and robust as this one.

Expedition Use

the cables are not good for low temperatures. the battery has to be heated otherwise the solarpanel does not load the accu. we had to use a hot waterbottle for the sherpa. a second usb would be nice. will take the sherpa for the next expedition again because there is nothing similar.

I have had the new Sherpa 50 since it was released. I am big into camping but enjoy taking my electronics with me. My Sherpa 50 powers my tablet, mifi card, usb light, fan, and phone out in the woods. Durning the day I charge it and use it all night. This is a great product and I would highly recommend it.

Power When You Need It

I use the Sherpa 50 for many uses. When shooting photos at location events the power is not necessarily where you need it. The Sherpa 50 allows me to power my MacBook Pro without missing a beat. On smaller assignments I often times use it to keep my phone charged and charge up any camera batterys that need it.

I always use it camping, to recharge my phone or camera. I also use it for lighting in my tent. Trips away from the grid are dandy with portable power products from goal zero. I use several for different applications. Thanks Goal Zero for great products!
