I got this for my wife and she has been enjoying it. She doesn't like small lady watches, so this is a great size without being too large. The multiple options for setting up the button functions has been great. The step tracker works well and keepers her on her toes.

Simple hybrid watch with just the necessary features

I have a Gear S2, which is a great smartwatch for its features but falls short on the battery side. This watch got my attention with its 6 months life on one user replaceable battery. The watch looks retro with 3 buttons that can be assigned a variety of features. It reduces the distraction from having too many features while still counting the steps, which is what i wanted it for. I also got at an exceptional deal at TJ Maxx, which had this on clearance. The watch strap that it comes with feels really cheap and I plan to replace it soon. One feature that would've been awesome to have is a backlight, which makes it tougher to read in darker situations.

Let me preface this review by saying that I'm a holdout of this whole digital smartwatch crowd where you have to take off your watch every night to charge it, I may try and get one someday when battery life is not a compromise so the next best thing is a hyrbid and I started this hybrid smartwatch craze with the Withings Activite ($450 watch!). I loved the simplicity, classiness and size of that watch but when Skagen made their own take on it I was intrigued by the extra functions it offers (physical buttons!). My initial foray into Skagen is the Hagen which was humongous! Functionally it was a step up compared to the Withings but the size bothered me. After a few months I saw this Hald and was drawn to the even more simpler dial (no secondary dial on the face of the watch) and more importantly it's almost the same size as my Activite so I bought one and never looked back, it came with a leather band which I immediately substituted with a rubber one so that I can wear this in the shower, swimming pool or just when I'm sweating profusely. I also love the price point so I bought another one today (the Jorn) so it's safe to say I'm addicted lol. Hope Skagen comes up with different more designs of this mid-size (40mm) style so that I can buy more :). So to sum up this review: BUY THIS NOW!!!
