after 3 years of minimal use the super outrageously expensive microwave is not working. only the convection part works now which who cares. we hardly ever used the convection because it would never cook things correctly (either overdone or undercooked)
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Looks nice, works well, a little confusing

The microwave looks really nice in the kitchen, it works well, and we like that its a convection oven as well. That said, some things are hard to use. The controls all working with the dial are a little strange to get used to. The fold down door is also a little difficult to use. Since this is mounted above another oven, it is harder for shorter members of our family to get things in and out of it, especially when baking when the door is hot. Also the instructions are not very clear about baking. It says in 1 place to remove the glass plate when baking and in another place it says to never remove it. We baked some tator tots on a rectangular pan and watched the pan bang around inside the microwave the whole time because the plate was rotating under it so we finally called support. They said never remove the plate which means you end up having to use round baking pans for everything. It would be nice if the turntable would stop turning or you could disable it so you could use rectangular pans. That would have been good to know ahead of time.

Overall great, with one potential issue
on October 25, 2021

Just had this microwave/convection oven installed. Replaced a double oven with this unit along with a single wall oven to free up the space over my cooktop for a conventional range hood. Was hoping to be able to use this microwave combo as a replacement for my second oven. So far the microwave has worked great (although the controls do take a few extra steps and it would be nice to have more flexibility than just having 15 second increments on the microwave cook times). I tried to use the convection oven tonight to roast some vegetables on a full size baking sheet. While the photos of this oven online clearly show a rectangular metal rack that sits above the turntable, my unit only came with the round tray that sits on top of the turntable and rotates along with it. I looked and looked to find a way to stop the turntable from spinning, but didn’t see anything. Without a rectangular rack or the ability to stop the turntable from spinning, this unit loses a lot of functionality for me as I can’t use any full size rectangular cookware to bake or roast. I’m going to try to find out why I didn’t get the rectangular rack (although I don’t even see how it would be placed in the oven. The side walls don’t have any ridges or holders for a rack). Hoping I don’t regret this purchase!

I feel like there is too much going on here. Thankfully we don't use the microwave very often but the first time was a bit of stuggle just microwave for 15 seconds. Shouldn't be that hard. I appreciate all the bells but sometimes simplicity is necessary.

Great features, Hard to clean.

I love the features this machine has, it microwaves everything perfectly and the convection oven works like a charm without heating up the kitchen. My only complaint is with the drop down door. Because mine is in a cabinet at about shoulder height the drop down door makes it VERY difficult to reach the back wall for cleaning. My previous GE built in microwave had a side swing door so was much easier to clean. I still love it and would give it 5 stars if it had a side swing door.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love the Smaller oven option
on January 3, 2022

We upgraded to this appliance from a standard microwave. Primarily I wanted the option to heat up a smaller oven for baking and small meals. It works great, but was frustrated to realize you could not use rectangular pans. It only accommodates circles, used with the circle rack and the turning glass. Picture online shows a rectangular rack going across the middle, but this model really does not accommodate that. Unfortunately, that eliminates multiple purposes!

Expensive paper weight

I had this unit installed and the convection feature never worked properly. The temperature wouldn’t rise over 170-180 degrees when set on 350. After multiple service calls, GE replaced it for me. Guess what, that one didn’t work either, the display blinked, added extra letters and numbers, and the beep stopped all together. A few months after that the microwave function quit working and it’s out of warranty. This is the most expensive appliance that I own and it’s the worst appliance I own. I would much rather have a regular cheap microwave. This appliance would be amazing if it worked properly but it’s been a huge expensive headache instead.

I would like something that you can just put in the amount of time you want the food to cook. Waaaay too many steps.
