I use the selectTech 552 Dumbbells a lot as part of my daily workout routine. The dumbbells themselves have a good grip and when using the dumbbells the weights do not shift at all. The dumbbells and weights are solid construction. The dials for adjusting the dumbbell weight is a little bit confusing at first as the dials increase weight by rotating clockwise, but on the opposite side of the dumbbell also rotates clockwise and since they are on opposite sides, the spin direction is opposite. Not a deal breaker but does take getting used to. I can see that over time the plastic base (made of quality plastic) may deteriorate due to the repetative motion of placing the dumbbells over and over and over again into the plastic base. It is good, quality plastic but none-the-less is still plastic. Overall the SelectTech 552 Dumbbells are exactly what people should look for when buying an adjustable dumbbell set. #sweepstakes
Pros: Comfortable, Easy Storage, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Quiet, Strengthens
I love the concept and most of the execution of this product but there are a few drawbacks. They are long so you have to hold your hands farther apart then with traditional DBs. Also, they do not work for exercises where you hold a single weight (typically by the bells portion). This would be particularly dangerous if doing exercises that require you to be laying down and bringing the dumbbell over head.
Pros: Durable, Easy Storage, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Quiet, Strengthens
I can honestly say these are better than expected. Quality item simple to use and the only drawback (not sure how to fix) it is always bulky and would probably need to be to stay balanced.
Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Easy Storage, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use
I needed higher weight above 20 pounds. Purchasing Multiple sets of dumbbells was looking expensive. Investing in the Bowflex gave my multiple weight options, easy to change the weight, I do like the handles in these dumbbells. They are comfortable in my hands. Set up was really easy. I am saving money with these. This will help get me through all my workouts and will cover the increased weight I need. I am supper happy.

I have just started using these - by far these were the best value for the number of weight variations that I can use. Trying to buy individual dumbbells to cover what is provided with this set was going to be WAY more expensive. I also have a small workout space, so the compact design was key as well.
As a husband, father of three, and retired U.S.C.G. Senior Enlisted Leader, health and fitness is a priority. Since retiring from the military, I've created a home gym and the SelectTech 552s are the perfect addition. This wonderful alternative to the traditional set of dumbbells is compact and provides the ability to get in a great workout. Having the ability to add weight incrementally (2.5lbs) from 5-25lbs is ideal for strengthening different muscles without fear of tearing something because of the traditional 5lbs increase. Regardless if I'm training for a triathlon, obstacle course race, or working out with my family, the SelectTech 552s have met our needs and allowed me to stay competitive.
