I use the 552's to try to build a little upper body strength and arm and wrist strength to help improve my golf game. The 552's make it easy to change the amount of weight when moving from one exercise to the next. I am considering adding a weight bench to my workout area and I think that will make the 552's even more functional.
Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Easy Storage, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Quiet, Strengthens
I heard so many good comments on the Selecttech since it's initial release and I waited almost three years to buy this as a Christmas present to myself. In terms of design, it's sleek and eye catching but when it comes to functionality, it still needs improvements. I love that I'm saving room in my apartment without the need of a whole weight each but the. Selecttech are a little flimsy and does shake shake when you use it (due to the multiple attached weight plates). Also it's very bulky compared to traditional weights and you find that you can't do full range of motions easily (dumbbell row, sumo squat, etc). There's still a Pom for improvement on the functionality designs but overall I give this a 4 star until they can improve on the cons I mentioned,
The Bowflex SelectTech® 552 Dumbbells are extremely useful and well made. They are an excellent addition to your home gym & workout routines. They offer very good flexibility for strength and weight training without taking up a lot of space. Very good investment.
