I bought this to replace the many different fixed weight dumbbells that I have been purchasing over the months. I started with 10 lbs, then 15 lbs, then 20 lbs ... I was either going to continue buying more weights or join the 21st century. I love these bowflex dumbbells, and in the 3 weeks since I purchased them, I am already at 35 lbs. I now need to find a good home to my earlier collection of fixed weight dumbbells.

#sweepstakes While the sweepstakes were a good incentive to write a review, I was planning to write one regardless. These dumbbells are worth the money for what they provide: a compact, complete system for strength training. If you have minimal space and want to be able to work out from the comfort of your own home, these weights should be at the top of your list. If you have a large space or home gym, these will no doubt be a staple in your workout routine. What I like: - Compact storage. Have about 4 feet of wall space or a 2' x 2' space in a corner somewhere? Perfect! Not having room for a full dumbbell set is understandable. That's where a pair of Bowflex 552 are a spectacular choice. - Easy to use. Turn the dial on each side of the dumbbell until a "metallic click" is heard and you are ready to lift your desired weight. Is the weight locked and not releasing from its storage base? That's a helpful safety mechanism! Make sure both dials are completely secure and you hear the "click"...then retry lifting the weight from its base. - No excuses. These weights in my home give me zero excuse to be a couch potato. I may not have a bench yet, or a full home gym, but a regular workout regiment with these babies and I'll look like The Rock in no time. There isn't a thing I don't like about them yet. If I find something, Bowflex will be the first to hear from me. I can see these lasting me a long time and getting heavy use, more and more over time. If you're looking at other brands for compact/modular weightlifting, good on you for doing research! I'm glad after doing mine that I picked Bowflex, and specifically the Bowflex 552 Dumbbell Set. #sweepstakes
