I do a lot of cycling and play tennis usually once a week. I do strength training 2 times a week sometimes 3. I'm a highly active 63 yr old and live in an apartment w/o room for barbells, weight benches an such. These dumbbells provide all the tools I need to keep myself toned and strong.
Pros: Durable, Easy Storage, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use
After doing a ton of research, I landed on the 552 dumbbells as the best option for me and my home gym. There really wasn't anything else on the market that checked on the boxes. These did! Very Fast Weight Changing I work out with my fiancé at home, and we take turns between reps. I needed something that could very very quickly change for when we lift different weights. For example, switching quickly from 10 lbs to 17.5 lbs. There are lots of amazing dumbbell options that take way longer to switch that just wouldn't work for us. Otherwise we would need 2 sets which we don't have the space or money for! Space saving & price Our "home gym" is extremely small at 8ft by 8ft. We needed something that would not take up too much space. Additionally, it was way more expensive (in Nov 2021) to buy the individual dumbbells (close to $1,000) and very few places had the smaller increments (like 7.5) in stock. 2.5 lb increments We both lift pretty light and needed the smaller increments to slowly progress up in weight. I couldn't find many selectable weight dumbbells that allowed 2.5 increments. And even if they did (power block) it was a long process to take weights in and out to adjust it. This probably won't be an issue for most people, but for us, it was! Longevity Lastly, I wanted something that would last a long time. There are newer brands and products that I considered, but I didn't want to gamble on something that had not been tested for years. From everything I read, it looks like the Bowflex selectech last the test of time. I hope the same is true for us.
Love these smart dumbbells. I don't have a large area for my workout and now with my setup I feel I have a full workout option for home that I couldn't do with anything else.
Pros: Comfortable, Easy Storage, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use
Love that I don't have to keep taking up so much room with more dumbbells. Only con is they are bulky (which I knew before buying) but that's the trade off for getting interchange. Right now I am being extra gingerly with them as I'm afraid to break them, and know that you cannot do push ups on them. #sweepstakes
The main issue I have is that this product can easily break the gear portion that controls the locking mechanism if accidental dropped. The base for the weights is also not as sturdy as prior versions.
