With Covid-19 I have suspended my gym workouts. I had a few dumbbells, but missed the higher weights of the gym. This provides the higher weights without a room full of dumbbells. Easy to change the weight. I wish it was more durable so I could put my weight on the dumbbells resting on the floor though.
Pros: Easy Storage, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Strengthens
The wide range of weights makes this a great product. It is really just so easy to adjust the weights - it doesn't disrupt your workout at all. The only downside is that it is a bit bulky if you are only working with the smallest weights, compared to a normal dumbbell. But the tradeoff is totally worth it. Can't recommend these highly enough.
I love that these weights are easy to store and do not take up a ton of space in my apartment. Having the ability to use a lot of different increments for weight is great and perfect for my use. My one downside is they have a very long structure which can make a press difficult/slightly uncomfortable. It is not a terrible trade off for the upside.
Pros: Space Saving. You don't need a lot of dumbbells and a lengthy rack to hold them all; You have 2 dumbbells instead of 25. They look fancy! Ultimately, I do not regret this purchase. Cons: I can't give 5 stars for this because they are costly, and WIDE, and this means that you don't get the full range of motion in some exercises like DB press for chest. Tip: You can alternate your arms to get the range of motion needed, stabilizing one while doing a rep with one arm then the other. Secondly, I have read that you must be gentle with them so the gear that changes the weight doesn't get stuck. This means you can't treat them rough like you would with rubberized dumbbells, like putting them on rough concrete or the ground in some exercises like Man-Makers or Renegade Rows in the pushup position, and you can't drop them like traditional DBs. It takes an extra second to place them on the ground rather than drop them so any WODs where you are going to improve your time will be delayed a few seconds. Lastly, they are costly. We really did consider getting a bunch of DBs with a weight rack given the cost. My wife won the argument for sake of peace. I suggest doing a lot of comparison shopping and evaluating the space you have to exercise.
These dumbbells are really good quality, I've used them for a few weeks and enjoy them. Switching out weights is much easier than using my old-school iron dumbbell plates, which always takes way too much time to fumble around with when I want to add or reduce weight.
Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Easy Storage, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Strengthens
I've had my eye on the SelectTech dumbells for months and as soon as they were back in stock, I ordered a set. They absolutely meet my expectations and are a fantastic addition to my locked-down-at-home workout routine. The only cons: the set is bulky. If you're petite like me, it means you might have to change your approach to certain lifts (like an overhead dumbbell press) because of the size of each dumbbell. But that's easy to work around! You also can't do renegade rows or similar lifts with these, but again--that's easy to work around. #sweepstakes
Pros: Comfortable, Easy Storage, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Quiet, Strengthens
I got lucky and had purchased these a few months before the pandemic lockdown, since I had decided to give up my membership at Equinox. So glad I had these when gyms shut down! It's definitely a great system to have, if you're trying to build up your strength over time and want to be able to build on your progress without worrying about outgrowing your weights. My only complaint is that they're a little bulkier than traditional weights, so when I'm trying to follow along with online instructors, it's hard to figure out if I've got correct form because many times I can't hold my weights the way they're holding them, and I have to come up with my own adjustments. But considering the alternatives, I think it's a minor knock against this system, which overall is a great value and does the job.
Pros: Durable, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Quiet, Strengthens
This product replaces multiple sets of dumbbells with one solution using very little space and changing the weights are flawless and simple. The are a bit bulky however something to overlook given the convenience and versatility with home training during COVID.
