I am 74 and owned a set of these dumbbells several years ago. Moved to a smaller place, joined a gym and thought I did not need the dumbbells anymore. Then the Coronavirus hit and that plan did not work anymore, especially in California. So, got into the Bowflex queue for another set. Very glad I did. Love these things.
Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Easy Storage, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Has additional weight resolution adjustment, Quiet, Simple to adjust, Strengthens, Trustworthy/safe
I tried a friend's adjustable weights and they wobbled and rattled. Looked at some others on line that had kg weight increments or weird spacing: 21 lb, 22 lb, 26 lb, foe example. Or that looked like Bowflex but no-name brand: who knows the quality? These are solidly built with a wide weight range in logical increments. The only downside thus far is that, because you can go all the way to 52.5 lbs, the lighter weights are bulkier than the equivalent individual dumbbells.
I wanted to get something that I could use for exercise during Covid times. Bowflex 552 seemed like a great alternative to a full blown gym set. It is well constructed and very sturdy..overall high quality. The flexibility of weights is a great feature. There are a few things though that need to be considered. The dumbbells are much bigger than a usual dumbell. Though not a big issue but for smaller hands it feels large. The handle bar cuts in the hand with heavier weight settings. Overall a great addition for all levels of exercises.
Got these for our whole family- two sons who play travel ball, husband who works out to stay fit, my daughter, who wants to firm up and me, trying wanting to lose weight and get back in shape.
