At times the "settings" do not let the correct weight release easily. A little "tweaking" has to be done to get the dumbell off the platform with the correct weight. They are a little too "plastic" for my taste.
Pros: Compact, Easy To Use, Targets Muscles
Cons: Sticky, Unresponsive

For years, I have been traveling to the gym on a daily basis. 4 months ago, I transferred to a different work location which consumed MUCH more of my time. It was then that I needed an "At Home" outlet for those days that were unpredictable. I spent many days researching the adjustable dumbbell category and after much deliberation, I chose the Bowflex Selecttech 552s. Since setting up my training room, I have had more motivation to complete my workouts with the easy access of the Selecttechs. - The compact size of the stand allows for much more space in my workout room. - The ease of selecting my desired weight amount is effortless. - Having the Selecttechs easily accessible makes working out much more desirable. The Bowflew Selecttech 552 Dumbbells are convient, compact, and very durable. Truly a great buy for anyone that is looking to focus on fitness and strength from their own home!
I bought these for P90X, and they work great. The overall design is quite sturdy and clever according to this engineer. I find them aesthetically pleasing as well. Sometimes it seems that a dial doesn't fall perfectly into a detent and may require some jostling to free the weight from the base. This is a minor issue, but not a real problem. It's my understanding that the latest version rubberized the dials (some complained of cracking the dials) and made the locking mechanism more secure. I have absolutely no concerns about the security of the plates. Also, the length of the dumbells can be cumbersome during some exercises. Again, this is only a small issue and hasn't really kept me from doing these certain exercises. For me (6ft 180lb male), 52.5 pounds is plenty for most exercises in P90X. Lawnmowers though, for example, could use some more weight. I'm happy just doing a few more reps but some may want to consider the 90lb versions. If you're going to bench with them, you almost definitely need the heavier versions. Overall, I am very happy and impressed with the product. The space and money they save compared to a complete rack of dumbells is what lured me, and they didn't disappoint.
Great product, use it regularly in my home gym, beats fiddling with plates and locks, as well as having a shelf full of dumbbells. I like pretty much everything about them with one exception - they Re a bit bulky. But they still are better than the alternative.
One of the best bang for the buck offering one set of dumbbells rather than 30! I recommend it to everyone to condense their large selection of dumbbells down to one maybe two sets.
Pros: Compact, Durable, Easy To Use, Multifunctional, Targets Muscles
