In general, I got what I expected. I knew before I bought these, from talking with other users, that these were a bit bulky. Doing P90X routines with these are difficult sometimes and I find myself reverting back to my single weight dumbbells. However, I do enjoy these since I can get up to 55 lbs without having to have a whole slew of weights. So I end up using my dumbbells for anything less than 20 and these for anything above.
Much better than I thought. Turning the dial during workout is fun, makes me like more to work out. The content of DVD coming with the dumbbells is extremely helpful! The DVD itself is worth of 20$ IMO.
SelectTech dumbbells are perfect for P90x! The selection dials are fast and easy to use so you can keep up with P90x fast-paced workouts. I am particularly pleased with the solid construction. The weight fills solid and does not shift like traditional dumbbells are prone to do.
Pros: Compact, Durable, Easy To Use, Fast Weight Switching, Multifunctional
I was skeptical about getting it because of the price, but I got it during a deal so I jumped on it. It's convenient because you save so much space. I don't like that it's so long because it makes it hard to do certain exercises like chest presses. The DVD that comes with it can be informational for beginners.
Pros: Convenient, Easy To Use, Multifunctional, Saves Space
Second set, had first set for 6 years and loved them. They were stolen in a PCS move back to the states. Could not live without them so I got another set!
Pros: Compact, Durable, Easy To Use, Multifunctional, Targets Muscles
Love these things. They're a pefect addition to my Bowflex Power Pro XTL home Gym which I've used and abused for about 9 years now. It's great to be able to mix up the free weight training with the resistance training of the power rods, as the dumbells allow for a full range of motion on certain exercises that I can't quite get on the Power Pro.
Pros: Compact, Durable, Easy To Use, Multifunctional, Targets Muscles
I use the product in my light training during my baseball season. For low weights, they are a bit bulky - they are always the same length, just vary in weight, so if you use 10 lbs. or less, you still use a dumbbell that is the size of a much heavier cast iron set. For limited, home use, I believe this is a perfect addition to a home gym. You do not need to maintain a large dumbbell rack and these things are easily moved. Weight selection is very simple and very quick. If you do not get a free stand with the dumbbells, I do not see a need for the stands - easy enough to leave them on the ground in the standard holders that come with them. Note: I have not used them enough to speak on their durability but I am pleased at this point.
