Love them!

Length of ownership:1 year or longer
Camping in the woods, or the Costa Rican jungle, and even in my back yard or video content projects. Cold days, hot ones and wet ones. These lights are everything I wanted and more. I love mine. At least until my BaseLantern went out. Hoping to get that taken care of, it's dark over here.
I would recommend this to a friend!

cannot be dimmed anymore! (like before)

with the previous version of the now 'alpenglow' the attached string lights could be turned on and off and be Dimmed (!) separately. Now the string lights will be always on with a full blast 150 lumens which is way too bright for our off grid cottage and for camping. You only want this kind of brightness at the moment of cooking or setting up something, but when laid back, dimming is the way to go.
The AlpenGlow can be dimmed. The connected string lights not anymore.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback - we're thrilled to hear you've been getting such great use out of your string lights over the years. Unfortunately, the lights are no longer dimmable with the new Alpenglow lantern line but dimming will still work with the PowerLight and BaseLantern if you have either handy.
If you're looking for an alternative, I would suggest checking out the new Alpenglow Mini lanterns - these are rechargeable, individual lights that you can hang from trees, tent poles, etc. with the attached bungee cord and are dimmable with multi-light modes.

A Lit Up Camp in the Middle of the Andes!
on March 1, 2017

I recently traveled to Perú and had the opportunity to bring along some great BioLite gear, including the SiteLight Mini. While camping in the Andes, I began pulling out the lights to setup around camp - our guides were so excited about having a lit up campsite and we were all impressed, these lights may be small, but they provide a decent amount of light. The long cord makes it easy to string them out far or close to other BioLite light sources. The ability to snap the lights together and pack away made it easy to travel as we went from Lima, to the Sacred Valley, to Cusco, to the Andes and finally back home. Overall, I love this product and I look forward to bringing it along with me on all of my camping trips!

Perfect Camp Light!

I was able to beta test the SiteLight Mini and they were excellent for me. They provided plenty of light in my tent and cabin on a backpacking trip this winter. The SiteLight is small and light so it was really easy to have in my pack for the whole trip.
My SiteLight lives in my camper now, it's great for lighting up the back at night for cooking and reading. The LEDs use very little power which is a life saver on the road. All around awesome product!

One minor problem.

The lights work fine and I can stack them, but when I separate the top light from the next one the lens always comes off, revealing the led and wiring. No problem with the others, but it's annoying not be able to stack all the lights.

They are easy to install to stack and to pack. We had no problems with them. We already have the Sitelight and we think these are more practical since the strings are shorter. They’re great energy saving lights for camping. We bought two and they look pretty aroud the RV. We also bought the Stuffsack wich is perfect for storing and to diffuse better light when needed. Pitched in a battery bank and we are ready for the next electricity outage.
I would recommend this to a friend!
