I really like the CS2. Most of my backpacking trips are a 8 to 10 days longs. When I took my white gas stove and pot the starting weight was about 3.8lbs and by the end the 2.8lbs. The nice thing about the CB2 is it is always about 3lbs. The CB is the primary stove so one of the other members brings their jetboil and two small cans of fuel. as we use it if it has rained or for a quick cup of tea.
But there is a few things to consider. The CB2 is very needy when all you have is pine for fuel. It burns up quick compared to hard wood. This means that CB2 fills up with ash much quicker. The other issue is the weight, I wish that Biolite would provide an optional titanium version for the kettle and the burn chamber. Also wish they create an adaptor for the burn chamber so you can use a pot or create an their own pot for the CB2. And make it all out of titanium.
My primary way to start the CB2 is by putting an inch squeeze of fire paste in a pine cone. I do care fire sticks but reserve then for damp wood. I also found that a cheap cigar lighter works great as it is like a small blow torch to get the wood going.
I would have given 5 stars but for the weight as an all titanium version would be nice.
The compact design is very nice.
Important note: make sure you bring multiple different charging cables. Your friends will like you for it.

Received this as a gift 2018. Used it a handful of times. Pretty cool idea but it doesn't last. My battery is toast.

I recently tested my new Biolite camp stove and was pleased at the ease of operation and the concept of the stove. The stove boils water in very little time. I was however disappointed in the charging capability. Example: I cooked an entire breakfast for four on the stove and my telephone only charged 8 percent. I love the little stove but will not depend on it as a charging device.

Repeat customer. Better than the original!

I purchased the original CampStove back in 2012 and it's still working great. The internal battery pack and charging system continue to work! That's a testament to the quality of BioLite products.
I just purchased the CampStove 2 bundle with the grill, kettle, and LED lamp. I love the improvements to the CampStove 2! The LED panel lights are a great addition. I love the extra fan speeds. It's awesome how they've engineered the kettle to house the stove when not in use. It's as compact as possible but still full-featured. The grill is large but is well equipped to cook many items at the same time. It's perfect for camping, hiking, or backpacking with companions.
Some reviewers knock off a star or two for the CampStove's weight for backpacking. I don't believe this was meant to be a hardcore backpacking accessory. The weight is fine for hiking or backpacking as long as you're not going on an extended multi-day or weeks-long trip. Even then, I would still consider including it. Its weight to value ratio is acceptable in my opinion.
It's also a great preparedness item to have at the ready when needed!
Great job BioLite!

Purchased this camp stove 2 after being told what an awesome product it is and it is !Super easy to use and with the ability to charge itself pretty much by converting the fire you burn into energy is a bonus. Can’t wait till I get to use it again.

We bought a Biolite stove for our VW Campervan adventures. It's great for that application, and I've also used it on adventure motorcycle camp trips. We decided, fatefully, to buy a propane stove to replace it since we wanted to cook big breakfasts with two skillets going at once. On a recent trip, the propane stove developed a blockage in the plumbing internal to the stove. It backed up propane and spewed it out of the threaded joint where the propane canister attaches to the stove. The whole stove and canister burst into flames in the middle of Carson National Forest. I had water boiling on the stove when this happened, so I grabbed the pot of boiling water and attempted to toss it on the fire. The pot had a folding handle for storage which folded at an inopportune moment and dumped the boiling water onto my foot. Third degree burn. A month of treatment, pain and suffering, lots of medical bills. The propane stove is going back to the manufacturer for dissection. The Biolite is going back into the Campervan for the next trip!

I have owned the original camp stove since they first came out. I love it!! My only issue was it took awhile to charge any thing due to the small battery size. Well that problem has been solved with the camp stove 2. Fired mine up the minute I got it. I was impressed right away. The battery came with a small precharge ( 3 bars out of 8). After burning it for an hour and a half it was fully charged. The new led dashboard and 4 fan speeds are a great upgrade. The fire indicator is super handy but the larger battery is the game changer for this stove. Way to go biolite !!

CampStove 2 good 2 not have.

I really like the LED light gauges on the BioLite CampStove2. You can just push the power button and tell how charged the battery is. You can also run the fan on any speed at any time you don't need a hot fire to run it on high. It has eight LED lights that gauge the fire temp. I have found it to cook better on fan speeds one or two. Speed four is best for boiling. I have the original CampStove but bought CampStove 2 because it's that much better. BioLite has made another great product and you will love it.
