Durable, weight is right-on, and charged my dead Sherpa 100 in exactly 7 hours in full sun.

Use 8mm port for optimum charging
on July 20, 2019

Doing some testing today I found that by using 8mm port on the nomad 28 I was able to get 21 to 22 watts of output. Using the junction box 8mm to usb severely dropped output to about 6 watts on Sherpa 100ac and only 10 watts on a yeti 400. I would only use the junction box on a cell phone or similar device

Pours the power in

Got this a while ago with the Yeti 150, for my first high end solar purchase. Can only say great things about it. Sunny day it will charge my 150 in a matter of hours. Granted, my charge level never got below 40% but I'm not trying to run a fridge with my little 150. With the USB plug in straight to the panel for a daytime charge on anything with a USB cable I really only needed the 150 at night, the nomad 28 charged up everything during the day. Love this panel and I will be coming back for more.

Works like a charm

I already had the Nomad 100 solar panel but I wanted to have the Nomad 28 for the direct USB charging feature. It arrived in the evening so I could hardly wait for the sun come up next morning to try it out. I got all four blue lights indicating that charging was in progress. This is super magical for me!
It is certainly a plus that it is foldable that way it doesn't take up much space at all.

Compact Easy to use

I tried it the first day I received it to charge my phone. At 80%, it only took 30 minutes on 3 panels. I need to figure out how to have the end panel stay flat out on the kick stand. That would help the 4th panel to be able to charge. The kickstand if very useful when adjusting to the suns level. The entire unit is compacted and easy to store. Looking forward to using it more.

Will not recharge Ipad Mini series devices.

Great panels for charging my iPhone directly from the panel output, as advertised...but it absolutely will NOT charge either my iPad Mini 2 or iPad Mini 5 directly from the panels via the interconnector, as it will with the phone. When connecting, the Mini will almost immediately reject the power input and indicate "NOT Charging" alongside the battery level indicator on the Mini.

Solar continues to improve

GoalZero and the solar commercial industry continues to improve as prices become more affordable. We're receiving little sun here today, but on a typical day with 500 watts per square meter or more of sun, you can easily charge a digital device or power pack all day with a couple feet of open space. The Nomad 28 is light but sturdy, very easy to set up, and an excellent addition to any travel office or workstation you may already be using. The included USB charger is simple and works great with a tablet. (Extra superlatives deleted), this is a fantastic first purchase for anyone considering solar.

Nomad 28 Plus Solar Panel

This is one of the best and most sensitive small-sized solar panel’s that I have ever purchased. I was able to charge my iPhone 6 and Venture 70 recharger pack with sunlight passing through the sun room windows in our house. The depleted iPhone and Venture 70 recharged in 3 hours and seven hours respectively from inside our house. The charging time would have been better outside in direct sun light. The integrated electronics gives you visual LED information about the charging that is taking place and optimizes the charging cycle regardless of the changing sun light intensity. The integrated kick stand lets you point the panels directly at the sun to optimize the resulting electrical charge that is passed to two connector cables. One cable terminates to an 8-mm male plug for other Goal Zero recharger packs and the other to a USB plug for other energy intensive equipment such as smartphones, cameras, and the Lighthouse mini and Lighthouse 400 lanterns. The Nomad 28 Plus is expensive, but the charging results are stellar when compared to other retailers solar panels of similar wattage.
