Compact Brush Heads Work Well for My Small Mouth
on June 9, 2010
Posted by: seussman
I love the compact brush heads for my Sonicare Elite toothbrush, recommended by my dentist over two years ago. I was developing gingivitis, and within two weeks my gums were no longer bleeding. After four weeks, my gums were a healthy pink. My dentist is pleased. I am pleased.
However, I am not pleased with the current compact brush heads. After 2 1/2 months use, the brush head became loose and wobbly and very, very noisy. I know Philips Sonicare recommends replacing brush heads every 3 months, but the toothbrush head should not have become wobbly and unusable.
I have owned this Elite Sonicare for two years. I previously used the brush heads for the recommended six months. Now they recommend three months. With the experience of this last brush head, I wonder if it is planned obsolescence or poor manufacturing. I'll post a second review on the second brush head from this package.

These toothbrush heads are great!

I have been using these toothbrush heads (or their equivalent) for about eight years. When I get bummed out about how expensive these toothbrush heads are, I try using a regular toothbrush. It only takes once and I'm back to forking out the money for these heads. They clean my teeth really well. What more could you ask for?
When I first started using this electric toothbrush it seemed a bit loud. However, because I was trying to save money, I bought the store generic toothbrush heads. These literally left my ears ringing! I've tried three different stores' heads and none are even close to relative quietness of the Philips toothbrush head.
I highly recommend these toothbrush heads if you like clean feeling teeth without the ringing in your ears!
Pros: cleans teeth very well., the built in timer is nice., easy to use., relatively quite.
Cons: doesn't last as long as i would like it to., expensive

Better reach with compact heads

I tried the compact heads because I couldn't get to back-most molars with the standard sized heads. They solved my problems and the next time I visited my periodontist, she and the cleaning technician were very happy with the results. They both appreciated the info that the compact heads exist and plan to pass the info on to other patients.
I still have some problems with fitting the head behind my front teeth in a horizontal position, but it has not adversely affected my brushing results.
Pros: reaches back teeth more easily
Cons: cannot achieve a horizontal on the back of front t

Cannot insert into the motorized part

took my toothbrush to the dentist who sells them to patients. they called to learn if there were different receptors for heads. Answer was no. I have tried 3 different packs of new heads and not been able to install anything except the head which was originally on my unit. I used it more than a year and finally gave up.

So stiff it damages teeth

I've used these brushes for 10 years. I don't have benefits so rarely visit a dentist & rely on good brushing habits to protect my teeth. But at my most recent visit, I learned that there is now a groove in my teeth because of how stiff the bristles are! I've always applied very little pressure while brushing so I know that it's not my fault. Unfortunately Phillips doesn't make a variety of stiffnesses in a compact head so I will now be buying a different brand of toothbrush. If you value your teeth, DO NOT BUY THESE BRUSHES!
Pros: fits in a small mouth
Cons: so stiff it damages teeth
