Great gaming rig

The good: runs the latest games smoothly (I'm going through Fallout4...again, with all settings on max). The keyboard is great for gaming, and gameplay is smooth with the GTX1060 on a 1080P screen. Speakers are great, and the machine is fast.
The bad: it's a laptop, but if you're looking for mobility and whole day battery life, this machine is not for you. These type of graphics and cpu require power size to keep cool, so the machine is heavy, and the power adapter is big.

Lenovo appreciates you taking the time to share your comments and concerns. The Legion Y720 keyboard should easily be able to turn off and on with these steps. Press the FN button + the Spacebar and it will function properly. If this does not work properly, please contact our Technical support team at https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/ for further assistance. Please let us know if this helps! Thanks for choosing Lenovo!

Good gaming laptop

Have been using this since September 2017. Got the 8GB RAM with i7-7700 and Nvidia GeForce GTX1060. Battery life is fairly good for a gaming laptop, at ~3 hours for light use and 1.5-2 hours for gaming use. Had 50-60fps on mid-high graphics in games like Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 and Dying Light. However, I'd have to agree that the screen isn't as bright as many other laptops at full brightness. Nevertheless, I like the keyboard colour customization. Overall, for the price I paid (~CAD1,600 after tax), it's a fairly good gaming laptop.

Remarkable Performance

This is my second Lenovo laptop, both bought with gaming performance as primary purpose, but generally used as a desktop performance. My last purchase is still running, but it's definitely showing it's age and I knew I needed something more. I was looking for a cutting edge computer, with an SSD for faster startup times and top of the line graphics card(like the GTX1060). This computer exceeded all of my expectations.(Which were already pretty high). First day I put this computer through the ringer, running Photoshop was a breeze, I may spring for more RAM though, my Steam-game library was put to a text by running everything at native resolution (1920X1080) with settings as high as I can. (Maximum/High/Ultra). The built in Microsoft Controller support is great. The funky lights on the keyboard is neat, but it's a take it or leave it. My favorite feature, besides it being a beast of a machine is actually it's cooling system. I can see that real thought went behind it's design, the massive vents in the back and even user controller fan settings. I'm used to laptops throttling down performance considerably, but I have yet to experience it with this computer while putting it under heavy load for hours at a time. The 5G WiFi is also fantastic and the screen very bright and I actually love the space between the body and screen, connected by a fairly sturdy wide hinge. I don't believe you can find a better deal on the market. I will voice my only drawback is that I wouldn't buy this laptop to do a lot of travelling with or for business really. There are much lighter computers Lenovo sells with far better battery life. This computer gives about 2 hours at best on a battery, which is fine for a desktop replacement gaming laptop, but portability and battery life should be low on your priority list.

This laptop was great but I wish it had a longer battery life.
Had to return this item after a week, ran super well however when playing games for more then 5 minutes the keyboard became unbearably hot to the point where I had to stop playing.

I bought this a month ago to replace an aging HP Elitebook I use for work and it's been nothing but impressive. Fast graphics, excellent storage capacity, and lighter weight. The only 2 things my HP had on it is native 1920x1200 screen vs 1920x1080 on the Lenovo and a fingerprint resistant case. This Lenovo is a fingerprint magnet in comparison. Always looks dirty on the outside. Other than those 2 things I love it.
Bought this laptop for both general use and gaming. Can run Overwatch at nearly all Ultra settings at 70FPS with good core temperature and has a good battery life when not running any demanding programs. RGB keyboard is really nice (I use the indigo color) and has a good feel. Screen is crisp and although some reviewers say it is too dark, I find it perfectly fine (although I run my phone at -10% brightness so I might not be the best judge for this). Fan is very quiet unless using the extreme cooling mode, which I suggest to use in between matches in games to help keep your core as cool as possible if playing for a long period of time. As well, while the built-in recording button (located directly left of LCTRL) is very convenient, it is very easy to press it by accident without noticing. I reccomend changing its path from the default C: drive (a 128GB SSD) to the D: drive (1TB HDD) to prevent filling up your system's main storage with accidental recordings, as I did.
