Easiest Printer Ever

Setting up this printer was a breeze the instructions were easy to follow allowing for easy setup the only step i found difficult was inserting the ink. I did have to google a video for installing the ink and I was not able to find the storage for the orange piece inside the ink compartment. I love using this printer for wireless printing the freedom of not having to be near the printer and doing wired printer has been a life saver! The printer isn`t too loud and it handles large print jobs exceptionally well for my small business purposes.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Reliable Multi-Function With an Array of Option...

Packaging: The box provided clear and detailed information on the features and appearance of the printer. This printer was very well packed with foam and cardboard. The components were protected from damage during movement and handling, yet did not make a mess while unpacking. The printer is quite heavy but I really liked the handled plastic which enabled me to easily lift the printer out of the box without awkwardly trying to find a place to hold it. All of the accessory components, such as installation manuals, software, cords were secure in the box and easy to find. Everything was easy to unwrap and didn`t need scissors to open (except ink bags).
Setup: The quick start guide included in the box was really all I needed to complete setup and installation. I followed the instructions and easily connected it to my wi-fi network. This printer is connected to my Macbook, so I cannot speak for a Windows install. Setup took about 5 minutes and went smoothly and was easy to follow the prompts.
Features: I really enjoy many of the features which make up this multi function printer. Of course, wi-fi enabled everything is a must and being able to print from several rooms away is great. Copier and scanner work well from the use I have had over the past few weeks. The duplex feature- printing on both sides of the paper- is great and I don`t like using printers without it. I feel the machine is a good size for what features are available to use. The front ink compartment is easy to use and I like how the optional corded connections are within the machine and out of the way. Also in this interior section of the printer, I laughed when I saw the little compartment for the that orange plastic piece you are suppose to use if you relocate your printer. I initially threw it away because I didn`t want to have to store that thing. I figured I would take my chances, so when I saw Brother had actually created a storage spot within the machine, I was quite impressed. I like the tilting control bar, which allows easy viewing of the screen regardless if your machine is on the floor or up high. If this thing fails me, I was happy to see a 2 year warranty and free never-ending phone support, if needed. The amount of ink included with this printer is crazy... 4 of each cartridge in included in the box. I will be covered for a while.
Operation: I have only used the print for a couple of weeks, but I have been fairly happy with it. I will be honest and say I prefer laser printers for their impeccable print quality, speed and quiet printing. I have used other inkjets in the past, I would categorize this printer model as being one of the better ones in terms of ease of use, print quality and general machine quality. I feel it is slightly slow, but again, I am comparing to a laser printer. So, I would say print speed is about average for an injet. I have not utilized the fax, but copier and scanner work well without issue.
Issues: I feel the main bottom paper tray could use some improvements. It is not a smooth closure into the machine. Once you push it in, I feel you have give it one more jiggly push for it to close properly. There is an error message that pops up if it is not closed all of the way, I just wished it was a smoother close. Although I personally do not have much need for FAX capabilities, with OS X, I only have the option to send faxes. OS X (Mac products) do not have the capability to receive faxes through this machine. I had one paper jam, it was a bit tricky to figure out where the paper was, but after opening pretty all of the doors and figure it out. I had a difficult time figuring out how to keep the printer on sleep or off when not in use, despite adjusting settings, it seems to mysteriously stay on or turn on again for no reason
Overall, I consider it to be a decent printer/multi function. Maybe a few quirks or hardware upgrades, but I have been happy with the the quality and reliability thus far.

Perfect printer for a small business!

As a small business owner, I am very pleased with this multi functional machine. It provides high quality printing and the colors are quite vibrant. Initially I was a bit intimidated by the well packed, heavy printer. I was also worried about setup yet setting up was easy especially for those of us who are technically challenged.
I do like the 11"x 17" feature and the large scanning platform. My only issue is that it
drops connection often when I shut it off.
Overall, I`m very satisfied with the quality that Brother has provided with this printer. And I love that it comes with enough ink for 2 years of use.

Easy to use, not finicky, good features, sturdy

This is a great printer for a very small office or a consultant who does a lot of documentation. It has a good manual feed tray that holds multiple sheets for 11x17 paper, envelopes, and labels. I originally got a lower model of Brother printer, but exchanged for this one for the paper capacity, ease of loading paper, etc. Has actual buttons for the fax.

disappointed in the alternate feeder port in the rear of the unit. A lot of difficulty and I can't use the envelope feeder in the rear of the unit at all- what a pain. Had I know I would not be purchased the unit
