Brother color printer

SETUP: The printer took little time to set up to begin printing. Loading the software on the computer took the longest. It was easy to load the ink since it loads from the front. It is wireless so it eliminates having so many cords and you can print from your phone which is nice.
PRINTER QUALITY: I was very disappointed in the quality of print. I made a birthday card and 3 business flyers for an open house. The color was off on all of them. I used a wide range of colors on the flyers and the color was broken up and dull. All of the colors printed out dull I even tried to change the settings to the best quality but then it all came out very dark. It printed very fast which was nice considering I was printing a large quantity. I have a cheap color printer that is very slow but the print quality is much better.
The printer is fast and works good for black and white copies but to have a quality color copy this is not the printer to use. If you just want a little color then this printer will do.
I like that you can use different size paper and labels. It is easy to load the paper.
Overall I was very disappointed in the quality of print for this printer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Brother MFC-J5830DW XL - Surprisingly Easy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the product. The Brother MFC-J5830DW XL - Business Smart Plus - printer is the first Brother printer I have ever used and I have been pleasantly surprised by this device. I run a small home business and I often have to print large amounts of paperwork plus larger photo prints. So a printer`s versatility and quality is very important given its diverse usage for my business.
Packaging: The printer arrived via mail and was packed very securely in a large box surrounded by Styrofoam. Everything was very simple to remove from the box and all of the documentation, ink and device arrived perfectly and undamaged. It was easy to remove from the box & setup on the printer stand. Everything needed to setup this device was in the box such as instructions, ink and installation disk .
Size: The printer is sturdy, compact and perfectly sized for my office . It fit well on the printer stand. It is not very heavy and was easy to pickup and move.
Setup: I found the setup extremely user friendly and I am sure even a novice user could navigate the process. After plugging the device in it asked for some basic information such as date and time then proceeded through a setup process. The device printed a test page to ensure the print heads were OK as well . After a few minutes I installed the software to my pc using the disk provided, it was straight forward & easy to do. My device was connected via USB so I chose that option and waited while the software was installed. The device needed updates so it then updated all the needed software. The whole setup process took about 25 minutes .
Print Quality: The quality of the print jobs are incredible I cannot believe the detail and quality of the color in the photo prints I tested. There were no lines or color irregularity or striation in the graphic. The images were perfect and my text documents were also crystal clear.
Print Speed: OMG I cannot believe how FAST this printed I was in shock and actually bought people in to show them how fast this device printed photos I was literally shocked and cannot rave enough about the speed of this printer !
Problems: The only problem I had was finding the USB , Ethernet and phone jacks I was not expecting them to be under the scan plate BUT once I did find it I LOVED the design so I guess it wasn`t really a problem but a temporary inconvenience until I figured it out.
All in all I loved this printer and highly recommend it to anyone seeking quality printing for their business.

Before receiving this product I was unsure of how I would like the look. Based on the images it didn`t seem to be my style, it seemed basic and like a no-frills printer. I was wrong! I really like the features this printer has and the design fits in well with my office. It seems well built and actually of a higher quality than my last printer.
This was very easy to assemble. It took me maybe half an hour to assemble, and that includes installing the drivers onto my computer. The instructions were easy to read and follow. It`s sleek for a printer, and doesn`t take up much space. I like that you can load paper from the top or the front. The front paper tray folds into itself, and the screen folds down making the printer even more compact. I easily connected this printer to my wifi, and really like that there is only the one power cord needed. It`s a big improvement over my last printer that had a few different cords (power/usb) and had to be connected directly to the router. I will need to connect one more usb cord when I hook up the fax portion, but it is mostly stored inside the printer, under the scanner.
The printer came with four packages of ink! I don`t foresee running out of ink for quite a while. Also, I really like that there is an ink cover included. You insert it into the area the cartridges go, and it keeps your ink area clear of dust/debris while transporting.
So far, I have used this printer for a few different black&white projects, and have also printed a number of invitations in color. It has printed very well, the printing time is very quick, although B&W does print a tad quicker than color. But, the color prints are very vibrant and true to what I see on the screen. The sound while printing is also quiet compared to other printers I have used. There is a quiet mode that will reduce printing noise, but it does increase your printing time by a few seconds. I`d say it`s maybe a 30% reduction in sound. Not useful for me considering how quickly you can print in normal mode. Especially since the sound is quiet anyway. But nice feature nonetheless.
I really like the touchscreen, makes it easy to use. The screen stays on while I`m using it and then for maybe 30 seconds after. There is also a sleep mode, I have it set at 5 minutes, which seems fine. One con is I haven`t found a deep sleep mode, which would allow for more control over the energy used. But it`s not a big deal considering most other printers I`ve used have a hard time waking up from the deep sleep cycle.
Overall I really like this printer, I haven`t had any complaints in the time I`ve had it. I think it will be very useful for my office needs.

Good starter small business printer

When I first received this printer the box was HEAVY! Fortunately the weight was mainly due to packaging. I was also expecting it to be heavy because of its features but once it`s out of the box it`s actually easy to move around while still offering great sturdiness/durability. It doesn`t take up too much space...it fits perfectly in the bottom shelf of my ladder bookshelf.
The setup instructions are easy though the actual setup process took a while to complete. I currently use the wi-fi settings. There are still some setup features beyond the basic print/copy/scan functions I`m working out the kinks on after a week. But then with all the features this machine offers it will take an extended amount of time to get used to it. I don`t often have a need for faxing so I haven`t used this feature as of yet.
It prints faster than my home printer and has a top- and back-loading paper feeder as well as a USB port which has proven incredibly helpful for on-the-go document processing. I like the design of the foldout feature for different paper sizes which keeps it from sticking out and getting in the way when you`re not using the machine.
The color ink printing quality is touch-and-go unfortunately it occasionally leaves streaks and uneven color.
The scan to PC feature didn`t work at first either...it took a while to figure out how to properly set it up with my laptop. However, I frequently scan/print from my phone using the Brother iPrint&Scan app and so far this has worked very smoothly!
Overall this printer seems like a good speed, average quality printer for a small home business or small office.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very nice full featured printer

I have been using the Brother All-in-One printer since I got it about 10 days ago. All the features work really nicely, and with good quality, compared with other printers I have used with my home office. The set up was quite easy and it was working out of the box in about 15 minutes. I like that this package also includes an extra supply of the manufacturer`s original low-cost ink cartridges.
My former machine had trouble connecting for the scanning feature but this one works really well with great scans up to 600 dpi resolution. (At high resolution the files can get pretty big but they look like the original art or photo.) Early days but so far I can highly recommend this product. I had owned a Brother product many years ago in the "Fax" era and was not thrilled but this model is very competitive with other major brands I have used recently. It does have a pretty big "footprint" to accommodate the larger paper sizes so make sure you have space for this.

The wireless capability is very convenient. The touch LED screen is much easier to use than other printers I have tried in the past. The paper allowance is adequate, but the colors could be a little bolder- although print quality is still very good. The ink cartridges are pretty reasonably priced relative to other printers, and the changing process is fairly simple. The printing does take a little bit of time, but overall this is a very good printer for the price.
I would recommend this to a friend!
