first ever gas stove

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've always heard that the better chefs prefer gas. I'm still trying to figure out why! The burners run so hot and trying to simmer anything is so difficult. I lower the flames to as low as possible but then ( only sometimes ) the actually go out; so constant watching is required. Turning the flame up a bit moves the action to something beyond simmering.
And I had never heard that self-cleaning gas ovens didn't do the same job as self-cleaning electric ovens. We are quite unhappy with the results of this oven's self-cleaning function.
Probably our last ever gas range.
Pros: Attractive Design
Cons: Difficult To Clean, Hard To Use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought this Jenn-Air 4 months ago and we love this range so far. We shopped all Makes and models before we settled on Jenn-Air. The main reason we picked Jenn-Air is first American made next would be quality of construction. For example, pull the knobs off this unit and then pull the knobs off a competitor you will immediately feel the difference. The Jenn-air are heavier and solid! the others are plastic with a fake chrome covering knobs. As far as baking and cooking, well wow so far impressed! The true test will be when we put in our turkey season as we have never done it with previous ranges because well just did not turn out great. It bakes food evenly and fully.
Now the negative.... We had our control panel recently changed out because the paint was completely rubbing off. We use the softest no chemical cleaners when it comes to household products they are all natural. The new panel is the same type of clack paint (markings that show which burner it is and hi/low) that I feel should have a clear-coat to prevent this. I feel we are going to run into this again in the future. Secondly, if you use the center griddle it has cold spots on the ends when you cook pancakes the center pancake cooks really fast and the two outer ones not so.
But all in all it is a great buy and you will be satisfied. I will edit this if anything changes as we had only had it 4 months.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Use, Quality Construction

Beautiful Oven/Stove - Easy to Use.!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this oven. I would make a few changes though: I'd add 1 more sliding rack inside the oven & I'd change the manner in which the gas burners turn on to the lowest flame settings on top. I'd make the lowest simmer setting to the right, not all the way to the left when you turn on the knobs. Also: I'd put the lights that indicate when the gas burner knobs are turned on on every model of stove, because when we have the burners on "low" we can barely even see the flame, & this could cause us to leave a burner on when glancing at it, & could cause a fire.

Many issues

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The more we use this stove, the more issues it presents. First, it will not 'simmer' anything on any burner. Always a boil. The oven temperatures are not as indicated on the display panel, the convection oven mode takes longer then the conventional oven mode for cookies, and the self cleaning mode is worthless. We do deal with all of these issues daily. Not fun.
Pros: Quality Construction
Cons: Difficult To Clean, Hard To Use
