[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this stove a few weeks ago. I love the look. I wish the glass top was easier to take care of. It seems like it is hard to keep clean since it is black and shows dust and marks easily.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My old JennAir downdraft range died (right before Christmas!) and I needed a range that would fit in the same place as the old. The range arrived at the appliance dealer quickly but took a month to install as the downdraft fan on the new range is significantly different in size than the old and requires a contractor to install (and hard to get when up in the remote area where I live and it was Christmas and New Years!). The smaller downdraft fan does allow for a much larger oven space which is a nice trade off.
So far, I am pretty happy with the range. I like the styling of the European style controls but quickly realized that the panel is always getting splashed/splattered when using the front burners so it does require more cleaning than the model with front controls. The digital controls are sensitive so you need to be careful you do not accidentally touch them and change the settings. The clock is on the top panel so is not visible unless you are standing at the stove.
On the plus side, I really, really like the max heat/rapid boil front burner. It heats almost as quickly as a gas unit; in fact, you need to be careful using the Hi setting as most older electric ranges do not get that hot that quickly. The roll out shelf in the oven is a godsend and only wish there were more of them that come standard. I may consider buying another I like it so much. The convection function is super quiet, a nice change from the old range. The downdraft is also very powerful and really does a great job of removing steam and smoke. My old JennAir had a quick preheat function that this unit does not (though I believe it just used convection to heat up quickly and then reverted back to standard back once the set temperature is reached). The oven does take a while to preheat. The manual states about 15 minutes and think that is accurate so I need to be cautious to set the oven temperature well ahead of time. Thus far I have not used the cleaning function so cannot comment on it.
Pros: Looks beautiful and modern. Larger oven than older model. Control knobs are beefy and well made. Rapid boil burner is fantastic. Dual burners are a nice feature. Roll out shelf is fantastic. Convection is super quiet and great for baking. Downdraft is very powerful and clears the steam and smoke very efficiently.
Cons: Top mounted controls get messy easily. Clock cannot be seen from anywhere other than directly standing in front of the stove. The oven in Bake mode does seem to take longer than expected to preheat. Might require a contractor to install if replacing a current JennAir downdraft stove.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are pleased with out Jenn Air. We wanted black or white, but stainless is the only choice we had for this model. The fan takes much of the steam out, although not as well as an overhead fan. We still set off the alarm sometimes.
Pros: Convenient, Attractive Design, Easy To Use, Quality Construction
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In 86 we bought our first Jenn-Air down draft, thirty three years later we replace it with our second Jenn-Air down draft. So I guess we must truly love Jenn-Air units. Have had nothing else in our kitchen.
Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Use, Quality Construction
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] we replaced our 14 year old JennAir. this one takes much longer to heat oven. The burners are miss placed should one large and one small in back and in front. controls change when cleaning control panel.
Pros: Attractive Design
Cons: Difficult To Clean, Hard To Use
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
