If you have been on the fence, then wait no longer. Should have done this years sooner. I will be buying another very soon.
Setup was a breeze.

I had the previous version for about 9 years without any real issues.
This one seems to work well and a bit faster.
The OS5 app works perfect too.

Shared Folders Vanish . DO NOT TRUST !
on December 7, 2023
Posted by: BuyerName Hidden
I used this MyCloud for over a year. And setup 4 shares. (customers, media, backup, storage) I removed "storage" and it deleted the customers folder. yes, after it asked twice "are you sure you want to delete STORAGE"
Tech support was no help. apparently it's a common problem. I demonstrated this to tech support. made a new share "NEW-SHARE" picked delete NEW-SHARE and my MEDIA folder vanished.
Tech support was like "Oops Sorry , hope you had backups"
=(
That's the sole reason I bought this ..was to have backups.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Plenty of storage space for now

Does what it is supposed to do. This is my 2nd so that should say something. With the two I have a total of 48TB. I'll setup on as a backup unit for extremely critical files. This is not user friendly for the average user. You do need some computer knowledge or ability to ask Google the correct questions.

It was easy to set up, with some useful apps included, transfer rates are acceptable, actually better than my SATA attached RAID 5. Overall, very pleased with my purchase.

So far so good!

I have four of the EX4100 series NAS devices in use and so far they have been quite reliable. The first one was put in place around January of 2019, the second around April of 2019, the third in December of 2019, and the most recent in February of 2020. I try to keep the firmware updated and so far they have performed quite well. For the most part they are all used for archival and backup purposes. In one client installation it is used for primary shared file storage (frequent reads/writes) but is also backed up nightly.

I love it, but...

Implemented this NAS last March 30 in our home office. All good until it failed with 'Power Supply Failure' three times late September. Wd wanted to replace with 'reconditioned' one, I insisted on a new one. Replacement arrived 2 weeks later obviously used. Meantime I discovered mine works if I don't use my surge protector. And a caution:. This device is discontinued and no longer supported. Tech support could not figure out the problem. I returned the replacement and kept mine. I have mine loaded with 22tb of data and system backups, and I'm a bit nervous.
