Understated quality. Worth a close look.

I have been a loyal TravelPro guy for a number of years. My rolling garment bag served me well for several years until the main compartment zipper broke making the bag unusable and too expensive to repair. Really liked the size and utility of this garment bag, but could not find a similar size replacement from TravelPro. I hesitated to consider Samsonite because of the typical low end versions offered by some of the local department stores. Found the Sillouette XV Duet bag online and was immediately attracted by the medium size and perceived quality. Most other wheeled garment bags are either way too small, or way too big. I ordered the Samsonite bag and received it just in time for my company's National Sales Meeting. I am writing this review after this first trip with the new Samsonite garment bag traveling from NJ to Houston with a connection in Dallas. This Samsonite bag surpassed all my expectations. Easily packed 1 business suit, 1 sport coat with dress slacks, 2 pair of business casual slacks, 4 dress shirts, 2 sweaters, 1 pair of dress shoes, 1 pair of flip flops, ties, belts and 2 bottles of contact solution. The bag arrived in Houston without any visible wear or damage, and all of the suits and shirts looked great with hardly any wrinkles. Time will tell if the quality of this bag will hold up, but I am currently so very pleased with this Samsonite bag and recommend it to any business traveler.

My classic Samsonite garment bag has provided me with years of great service. My only gripe was lugging it through the airport. My new Duet garment bag has all of the storage I need, is light weight, folds like a suitcase and rolls like a dream.

My suit and shirts arrived and for the first time I didn't need to iron again before wearing. I just replaced my 15 year old Samsonite garment bag which was still going strong despite years of punishment but I had to carry it. The ease of use and new features are amazing. Either I misread the website or was just overly optimistic but I thought it was going to be carry on size. It's not but I'm still really happy, I usually checked my old bag anyway.

The bag didn't even make the first half of it's first trip. TSA must have opened the bag, and couldn't get it closed, with the zipper completely stripped. At my hotel, I tried to rethread the zipper and one of the "pulls" came completely off. The photo shows how I will attempt to transport the bag to my next hotel. I will have to buy duct tape or another suitcase to try to get my belongings home. Samsonite's warranty is ridiculous. I will need to spend over $50 to ship the bag to some mom and pop luggage store who will determine whether or not this is covered by warranty. If no, I will have wasted another $50 on a bag that was only $230 to begin with. I'll probably just throw it in the trash. I knew I should not have tried to save money and should have bought the Tumi bag instead. Oh wait, Samsonite just bought Tumi.
Cons: Bad Zippers
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Excellent garnet bag

This was a replacement for a Samonsite garment bag that could not be repaired. Love the new design. Everything is even better contained and less movement. Less movement = less wrinkles. The hangar compartment is much more secure & doesn't open on this bag. With the requirement of packing computers now - a secure compartment would be appreciated. Why only black? Would be much easier to identify in alternative colors: I had blue before. How about purple? I only buy Samsonite luggage!!!!

I have never had a rolling garment bag and after making a trip to Philly this summer for my son's wedding and using my old garment bag to pack my long dress and my husband's suit I knew it was time for something that casued less wrinkles and was easier to move in an airport. I haven't used my new bag yet but I can't wait to! It is so lightweight yet substantial. Wheels glide so easily and the zippers and seams are meant to last. The many inside pockets will come in handy for a variety of items. You can't beat Samsonite quality!
