Best Zoom Lens

I've never really liked zoom lenses before. The traditional 24-70 is the one that most people start with, but 70 is not telephoto enough for good portraits. 70-200 is typically very heavy, and 70 isn't wide enough for anything but portraits, so if I'm going to be switching back and forth between two lenses I might as well swap between two sharper and faster primes. 24-105/120 f4 lenses have existed for a while, but I've not had any positive results with them. Forget how fast it is, as I don't typically care about 2.8 vs 4, but the issues are distortion, sharpness, or an overall over-corrected flatness. The color, sharpness, and character of this lens is among the best I've ever come across that covers anything you could ask for in event photography. I've literally stopped bringing back-up lenses to weddings, as this can do practically anything outside of extreme telephoto (sports/wildlife) or wide (architecture). I've shot on larger sensor format cameras, and I still think in terms of 24-120 type of lens, you aren't going to find anything better on any other system.
I would recommend this to a friend!
