SO far this is the best Smart Phone I have had to date. Because of all the cool features of the phone I went out and Got the 60" ES8000 Smart TV and a 7" Tab 2. The things I can accomplish are amazing. Now I dont have to worry about buying a Univeral remote my phone and Tab do it all. Keep it Samsung...I am a customer for Life.
I love this Phone it is like a mini computer, it also takes great pictures. I rarely use my laptop anymore with the exception that so many more features are unlocked when integrated with a computer.
After being smart fon free for 1 1/2 yrs, I am at peace with re-entering this volatile market with the Galaxy S III. The reviews that I read did not do it justice and I will be learning how to use this everything phone for months to come. Voice quality is great, initial ease of use is very good. While light and nimble in your hand, its not flimsy.
Its clearly at the top of its category and Samsung will have to work hard to top it.
I am having trouble finding anything negative to say about this phone. I have been singing its praises to everyone I meet since I bought it a week ago. This is my 2nd smartphone, and have said since buying this that I hadn't realized just how much I wanted a new phone until I got a new phone. The Galaxy S3 doesn't really do much more than my proir phone could do (except the S-Beam feature, which I have yet to use), it just does EVERYTHING better and faster. Much better... and much, MUCH faster.
I was worried about the size, but it actually feels very comfortable in my hand (I have average sized hands for a man). The light weight and slim profile are great, and the size and shape are not so big that I can't fit it in my pocket (shirt or pant). I don't like holsters, so it will always be in a pocket for me.
The display and touch screen are incredibly responsive (almost too much so... I sometimes find it difficult to use the keyboards because if I don't pick up my finger quickly enough, it will register the key next to the one I pressed - even tho my finger is no longer physically in contact with the screen).
The Samsung designers have a done a great job with the UI. The Notifications panel is very well laid out and has shortcuts and instant activation icons for so many tasks that I used to have to search through menus to find. The widget and Home panel layout is also very user friendly and intuitive.
The camera is quite good. It rivals any inexpensive dedicated digital camera for functionality and picture quality (IMO), and its controls are also fairly intuitive.
One gripe I do have is that the battery, while very good (especially considering everything I have been asking the phone to do over the last several days) is not all it was advertised as. The reviews and promotional info that I had read claimed a 22 hour battery life, and while I have only had to recharge it mid-day once so far, I can't see it going 22 hours... maybe 15-20 at my usage pace. Now, to be fair... it has several power saving settings and features that I have mostly set to OFF, so perhaps if I was a bit more conservative about my approach, 22 hours would be realistic.
The S-Voice feature appears to work fine. I had heard that it wasn't as good as the competition, but as I never really tried the others I have no real frame of reference for a comparison. I do find that S-Voice works MUCH better than the voice recognition on my old phone.
Sound quality on the calls thus far has been adequate to above average. Not perfect, but more than satisfactory. No dropped calls yet and my listeners have told me that I sound much clearer than I did on my Droid (especially when using the included in-ear headset)
So there you have it. I had to reach to find anything bad to say about it. The 4G-LTE is lightning fast (about 8 times faster on average than my high-speed internet wi-fi at home), and the price was fair and reasonable. Overall, it has been one of the best purchases I've made in quite some time.
