Recent purchase, has a couple features not offered on the new S4, (reason for purchase over S4). Audio is the only negative aspect and the reason for the 2 four star ratings, but even that, as I normally use BT or speakered ear plugs is a whine more than a complaint.
I used a iPhone 4 before..I still have one...S3 is above IPhone 4 and even IPhone 5 like features design and performance...the size is perfect for me ...great screen and colors..great sensors ...great camera and really fast. Android is a great OS for me...my family prefer IPhone's IOS. I like the sd card extension memory but I can not save apps on it!! The case is slippery..I dropped it many times because of it...could be rubbery at least the sides. The auto brightness is ...poor..I use glasses and is still to dark..same auto saving mode..useless for me!! Doesn't have a "do not disturb" mode. Generally this is a sort of small tablet actually!
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight, sd memory, great camera, good size, great sensors
Cons: slippery plastic
I would recommend this to a friend!

I got on the Android bandwagon early, and this is by far the best phone I've ever owned. There are some nits to pick (voice recognition could be better, NFC payments need to be fully unleashed) but I'm incredibly happy with this phone and talk it up to my friends all I can.
Pros: Durable, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

Navigation

I really liked the navigation feature until one morning I touched the Nav icon and it went to google. I could not get it to work. I went to a Verizon store and was told it was an automatic upgrade. after they showed me how to use it I thought my problems were over. But, I was wrong. It is very unreliable. I can't count on it working when I start it unless I guess on the direction I am supposed to go and drive until it finally comes on. Also on a recent trip it stopped working on several occasions forcing us to use a back up we were smart enough to bring with us. I want my old version back until the bugs are out of this one. Actually I just want the old one back and never want to see the new one again. I am very tempted to return the phone and get my money back.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Durable
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

First real smartphone

All of my friends had one so I joined the club and it's defiantly not a decision I regret. A lot of great features, fun apps, and a lot of customization. Decent battery life and some games can lag a little bit, if to much is running in the background, but overall it's a fantastic phone and I highly recommend it to other people I meet who doesn't have one.
The Galaxy S III is far more advanced than any previous phone I have had but even an old dog like me has been able to use it quickly. A lot of features and apps which I am going to give a workout on my next vacation.
