A good unit with a good sound

The tuner picks up stations very well, but it is a little slow to turn on - we are used almost instant 'ON'. The only criticism concerns the remote. It is crowded, has small buttons and when you want to push any buttons while it is lying on a flat surface it will always tip to one or other side. Why does one have pick it up? Why isn't it stable?

I WOULD HAVE GIVEN IT 5 STARS BUT WHEN USING A USB DRIVE IT HAS TO BE FORMATTED TO MP3 NOT WMA AS IT DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THE FILES. IT IS A PAIN TO HAVE TO RIP THE CD'S AGAIN TO MP3 FORMAT OR BUY THE PROGRAM TO CONVERT WMA TO MP3.

It died. The sound output was muted and barely audible. Had to turn up completely to heat anything. Was a Pioneer fan but, not anymore.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The product provided a good sound overall. However, after about a year, the receiver started shutting off on its own. Sometimes the unit would play for a few hours, sometimes a few seconds, but always spontaneously turning itself off. This occurred even when not attached to any speakers. Other people on the internet have reported the same problem with other Pioneer receivers.
This is a product quality issue. I expected better from Pioneer, which used to have a high quality standards.
