Braun Series 9 9295cc Wet&Dry Electric Shaver with Clean&Charge System

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The razor comes in a very ascetically pleasing black and chrome finish with an easy to read LCD display and feels solidly built. It comes with a nice manual and everything you need to get started. First few shaves: After charging the razor for the first time, it was time to give the razor a try. I decided to try it dry instead of in the shower for my first impression. It provided a nice close shave without leaving my skin irritated and thus did not leave me with the dreaded razor burn. Two days later I had a little stubble returning and this time decided to try it in the shower. It provided me with the same nice close, smooth shave and was actually a little easier to glide over my skin. The braun series 9 9295cc Wet&Dry Electric Shaver with Clean&Charge System left me quite impressed at how little time it actually took to complete my shave as it removed most of the stubble in just one pass instead of several like some other electric razors. Another great feature the razor comes with is an included built-in trimmer which makes it easy to square up your sideburns after your shave. Cleaning: The Braun series 9 comes with an impressive industry leading 5-way alcohol-based cleaning and charging station. It cleans and lubricates the razor to brand new quality after each cleaning. It also keeps the razor charged to its maximum potential so it's ready when you are. Summary: Pros: Well-built product Provides an extremely comfortable and close shave Convenient Dry or Wet Shave Easy to clean and keep charged Cons: Cleaning station can be a little noisy when it is performing its cleaning operation, but it doesn't run for that long. I would recommend the Braun Series 9 Electric Razor for anyone looking for a top-of-the-line all-in-one electric shaving system.

Great shave

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second Braun electric shaver (also have an 8 series). This model provides a closer shave and feel to be more powerful. However, the build quality feels a bit inferior to the 8 series. That said, it feels well made and you would probably not notice this issue if you did not have another Braun to compare. The cleaning system is great and I feel a difference in shave quality after using the cleaning system. Would definitely recommend.

Best Men's Electric Shaver of 2016
on November 14, 2016

from Menlo Park, CA
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using an electric shaver on a daily basis for 10 years. In fact, it's been the same rotating 3 blade electric razor the whole time! I just spent the last week trying out the brand new, and top of the line razor from Braun....the Series 9.
The model that I tried was the 9295cc Wet/Dry Shaver, which also comes with a cleaning station/dock.
Before I get into what I think of the product, just want you to know that I'm 36, and research the heck out of everything before I get it. To be quite honest, I really enjoy the researching before settling on buying a product, so I hope that this review can help others in the same way.
Shaver First Impression: The shaver is awesome looking. Fits perfectly in your hand. Great weight, mostly top heavy. The chrome metal finish is beautiful....you honestly couldn't ask for a nicer looking razor. The various blades/foils etc on the head look top notch, and are super sensitive to touch (in other words, you don't need to press down hard before they react). This model is good for both wet and dry shaves, for which there is a button. In wet, the head locks, and in dry, the head is free to move. On the back, there is a button to vertically slide the sideburn trimmer up. There is a display on the unit, that shows bars of battery life, and also a cleaning light indicator when it's dirty and it wants to be cleaned. In regards to the shaver itself, I don't actually think you could want/get a nicer piece of hardware. You won't be disappointed with it guys.
Cleaning/Charging Station: This came with my model, but not with all Series 9's. In my mind, this elevates the really expensive shaver to a whole new level. The unit fits nicely on the counter top. The shaver goes in upside down, and once pushed back is ready to be charged or cleaned. There is an indicator light(s) which will tell you how dirty the shaver is, and once you push the power button on the station, it starts cycling through some of the washing fluid (which sits in the base and comes with the unit) for a few minutes. Then it blows a fan and dries out the shaver head for about 40 minutes. To me, this charging/cleaning station elevates this razor package to top notch. Having this cleaning/charging station sit on my bathroom counter, and my shaver sitting inside it, charging, and getting cleaned, lubricated, disinfected after each and every shave is truly amazing. The one downside I've noticed is that the glossy top of the station, is quite prone to streaks/smudges, if you care about that kind of thing. I read that the cleaning fluid will last 3 weeks, when you clean the unit everyday (you are instructed to put the razor cycle through it's cleaning cycle after each shave). Something to note though fellas, is that you should wash off the shaver head before inserting it into the cleaning/charging station, otherwise you're likely going to gunk up the whole machine.
Travel Case: The box also comes with a hard shell travel case. It only fits the shaver itself, however it's a very nice case and I will most definitely be using it.
I went forward and did two test runs with the shaver. I did a 3 day beard shave with the Braun series 9 on one side of my face, and my old rotating head razor on the other side of my face. Then I waited 3 days, and did the same thing but as a wet shave. Here's what I found:
Dry Shave: The Braun caused 1 hair pull, whereas my old razor had multiple. In general the Braun definitely had a closer shave. Running my hands over my cheeks, I could almost not feel any stubble on the braun side, whereas I could on my old razors side. However, one thing that I did notice though, was that on my upper lip and in the nook of my neck, the Braun had a hard time getting the hairs as compared to the other razor. I was a little surprised with this at first, however then realized that it's a different razor type (straight vs rotating). So the key is to use your other hand and keep your skin taught, and also to take different angles/passes at those areas. Once I realized this, the Braun once again had a closer shave as compared to my other razor. Amazingly I also did not break out from sensitivity to the razor in the next few days, which I'm still quite surprised about. I would even go as far as saying that on my cheek, it's almost as close as a blade shave, very impressive. So as far as the dry shave in concerned, the Braun was better.
Wet Shave: This is what I usually do, so I was very interested to see how the Braun was going to do. In my mind, this is where this shaver really shines. It not only gave me as good as a shave as the dry, however even closer on my neck. No hair pulls, whereas my old razor did. Also, the power of the Braun was quite evident here as my old razor needs to be washed every couple passes due to the shaving foam, whereas the Braun was able to do at least 3X longer = better efficiency and less time wasted in the mornings. Plus, it also shaved faster than my old razor too (this fact I did not notice as dramatically with the dry shave). The Braun was the clear winner here.
Final Opinion: This shaver rocks! It looks sweet, feels great in your hand, and gives you a superb shave. Once you understand how to properly shave with it, it gave me a better shave than my old razor, and saved me time as well. The unit looks amazing on your counter top. Lastly, the cleaning station keeping the shaver in perfect condition for every shave is honestly the cherry on top. I highly recommend this shaver and charging/cleaning station to all guys. You won't be disappointed.

A great shave!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So i have previously steered away from this type of electric razor before and used the circular blades one.
As someone who gets their 5 o'clock shadow at around lunchtime I have always wished i could have a better shave. What i noticed within a few days of using this Braun was that it gave me a much closer and smoother shave and using it for a few days more it has given me a clean shave every time wet or dry. Also my skin is not as dry and itchy as it was with my other razor -
The only slight negative i would say is it is quite loud but it does it great job and the self cleaning stand is also perfect as it's a no mess clean up.

Really nice shaver

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a really nice shaver. As some of the other reviews mentioned, the chrome looks great and the quality feels really solid. I've been using a Braun Series 5 with the cleaning system for several years and a remington before that and this is a nice upgrade. I only use it dry. Please keep in mind, no electric will ever get as close as a blade, but you will never cut yourself and it's much quicker in the morning. Here are the major things I've noticed - it's much quieter than any other razor which is great. Also, the battery lasts a long time. I'm easily getting a week on one charge where I only got 3 shaves on other razors. I shave every other day and it takes care of the longer hair easily and with no pulling. It also does a good job on my cheeks, but not as close on my chin, upper lip and neck vs. my Series 5. It's most likely because the foil heads are farther apart. The two long hair trimmers in between take up a lot of room. The pop-up trimmer on the back is easy to use and cuts a nice straight line on the sideburns. I use water in between charges/cleaning with the system. If you do it this way, the cartridges will last a lot longer and the shave is just as close. I'll write another follow up review in a few weeks to see if performance improves after my skin adjusts more.

Top of the Line Electric Shaver

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Braun 9295 electric shaver is a fantastic product, and I couldn’t be happier.
I have a full, coarse and tough beard like razor wire, but also have very sensitive skin and am very prone to ingrown hairs. I’ve owned and used numerous top of the line electric shavers from Braun, Panasonic and Norelco, cartridge razors like the Gillette Fusion Proglide and Mach 3 Turbo, and even old fashioned double-edge razors used shaving brushes and soap. I’ve found that foil electric shavers offer me the best shave with the least irritation. Before the 9295, my preferred electric shavers were the Braun 9090 and an older Braun 790.
The Braun 9090 came well-packaged, was easy to open, and included the shaver, cleaning unit, power cord, one Clean & Charge cartridge, a reinforced cloth travel case, cleaning brush, and instruction manual.
The shaver itself is made in Germany (the cleaning unit is made in Hungary), has a shiny chrome plastic front and black rubber back, is ergonomic and comfortable to hold, and light, but solidly built. It’s also the quietest foil razor I’ve ever used, but still much louder than rotary electric shavers. The cleaning unit is sleek, doesn’t take up too much counter space, and the cartridge is easy to replace.
I’ve now used the shaver for about two weeks. It’s the smoothest, fastest, and most comfortable and irritation-free shave I’ve ever experienced. Despite the four cutting elements on the relatively large shaver head, I had no trouble navigating my neck, jawline or under my nose, and rarely had need to go over certain spots repeatedly because the whiskers grow in different directions. I used the shaver dry, wet with shaving gel and cream, Remington Face Saver pre-shave powder, and William’s Lectric Shave with equal results. The shave is comfortable enough that the pre-shave products aren’t really required for a comfortable shave, and while a wet shave yielded comparable results as dry, I found wet shaving with the 9295 to be messy. I’m glad the shaver is totally waterproof to facilitate thorough cleaning, but find the ability to wet shave little more than a gimmick.
My only complaint was the pop-up trimmer. Most electric shavers include such trimmers, they are usually barely adequate for the tasks required, and the 9295 was sadly no exception. The trimmer pops-up flush to the back of the shaving head, and as a result, it’s difficult to maneuver and see what you’re cutting. It’s also inexplicably slightly concave, and effectively reduces the cutting area and precision.
The Braun cleaning unit is unquestionably the best in the market. It’s fast, truly disinfects with an alcohol-based cleaning solution, efficiently dries the shaver, and is not too loud. The shaver is usually cleaned, lubricated and dry within approximately 40 minutes. If you don’t want to use the cleaning unit or are traveling, the shaver can be easily cleaned under the tap, with or without soap. It’s also possible to simply tap out the hair from the shaving head and brush-out the whiskers. If you manually clean the shaver, Braun recommends that you occasionally oil the shaving head and trimmer. Unlike my Braun 790 and earlier models, the manufacturer did not include a small bottle of oil, although Braun sells its own oil separately, or you can use the spay cleaners and lubricants from companies like Remington (Shaver Saver).
I would highly recommend the Braun 9295 to anyone looking for great shave comparable to a blade. However, I offer one caveat. Although excellent, Braun Series 9 shavers are usually quite expensive. My earlier model 9090 is nearly identical to the 9295, and the Braun Series 7 shavers will provide a great shave almost as close and comfortable as the Series 9 models. If budget is a factor, the earlier Series 9 or Series 7 modes are a better value, with only smaller, incremental improvements with the new flagship 9295. However, if you want the best of the best, do not hesitate to choose 9295.
Summary:
Pros:
+ Smooth, comfortable shave!!!
+ Ergonomic, easy to hold, non-slippery handle
+ Efficient cleaning-unit with an alcohol-based cleaning solution that is widely available
+ Waterproof for manual cleaning and wet shaving
+ Long battery life (50+ minutes, 5 minute quick-charge, and can be used while plugged-in)
+ Nice protective travel case
+ High-quality, made in Germany
Cons:
- Expensive (but not unreasonable for a top of the line electric shaver manufactured in Europe)
- Marginal pop-up trimmer
- Lubricating oil for manual cleaning not included

The Last Shaver You Will Ever Need!
on November 16, 2016

from Menlo Park, CA
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like many millions of men shave every morning. I don't think I'm special when I say, it's an annoyance. Shaving is an activity that takes valuable time, especially in a morning rush. Shaving also creates a mess in the washroom.
Enter the Braun Series 9! I have now had this shaver for a couple weeks, and let me tell you, the world of difference it has made. I'll get into all the details of why I'm giving this such high praise, however first the contents of what you'll get inside the box.
The shaver itself, I got the Series 9 9295cc. It's a perfect weight, looks amazing with it's chromed exterior, and handles exactly the way you'd want a high end shaver to in your hand. The blades on the head are crazy. You get 5 various cutting mechanisms, driven by what they call syncrosonic technology. In other words, way way way better than what you're currently using. There's also a sideburn cutting mechanism that slides up from the back side, very convenient.
Also within the box, you get a very handy and well constructed travel case for the shaver. There's also a small brush to clean the shaver which is included. However, besides the razor itself, is the 'piece de resistance', the cleaning/charging station. I love this thing. It's a matt/shinny black unit which sits on your counter, and it serves to charge your unit, but also every time you place the shaver inside it, it determines how dirty it is, and cleans it for you. But not just clean, the liquid also moisturizes the head, and then dries it for you. So every time you go to shave, it's in perfect working condition.
Now onto using the shaver. I've been using a rotating 3 head shaver for approximately 10 years. It works, but takes it's time, not very powerful, gets clogged, pulls hairs, and leaves me with bad sensitivity reactions. So needless to say, I was very excited to use what is likely the best razor on the market!
And boy oh boy it didn't let me down. I shaved on 3 day beards, with both the wet (shaving cream) and dry (no shaving cream) options, as this razor is capable of doing both. I shaved one side of my face with the Braun series 9, the other with the old razor. After I did that a few times, I then have shaved exclusively with the Braun over and over, like I would regularly do for work day after day. Here are my thoughts:
I love it. The feel of the Braun while shaving definitely gives you the sense that it's very powerful, and durable. The device is quieter than my old shaver, and is not disturbing at all. In both wet and dry modes (btw, dry mode the razor head is free to move, whereas in wet it locks into a position), the razor routinely gave me a better, closer shave than my old razor. For optimal closeness, the Braun works best when shaving under the nose and neck line if you keep your skin taught with the other hand. The sideburn trimmer is just OK in my mind, however this really doesn't impact the shaver overall to me, as I don't get this kind of face shaver with cutting my sideburns in mind.
As compared to my old shaver, there is a huge times savings using the Braun. Due to the efficiency of the cutting, and the power, I can do a full dry shave in around a minute! Whereas I was in the 3 minute range with my old shaver. Sounds like splitting hairs, but in the morning, every minute counts. And the longer you need to spend irritating your neck, mean the higher the chance of having sensitivity reactions, the Braun easily wins this race.
Something else that I realized after using this, which was a very pleasant surprise. Because the head is cleaned after every use, there is a very nice lemon-like smell to the shaver head when you first use it. Small thing, but reminds you that you're using a first class product.
A nice feature is also a travel lock. Who hasn't opened up their suitcase, or toiletry bag once or twice in their life, to their razor on, and likely on for the entire flight. Well Braun addressed that, and you can activate a travel lock to prevent this from happening. Very smart!
Something else that I was very impressed with and addresses one of my first comments about making a mess shaving in the bathroom. My old razor would start dumping shavings all over my chest and the countertop when shaving. Not the Braun. After I shaved my ENTIRE face, there were maybe 1-2 hairs TOTAL on the countertop. Which means that this razor is perfect for a business man who wants to shave fully dressed. My fiancé is also going to be much happier with me now :)
The Braun Series 9 is very powerful too. When doing a wet shave with shaving cream, my old shaver would lose power after a getting bogged down with cream, and require a rinse many many times during my shave. Not the Braun! I didn't lose power, nor did I feel the need to have to rinse the shaving head a single time while wet shaving. A further improvement on time savings.
Lastly, after using this braun for a couple weeks now, I am happy to report that I have not had any sensitivity or breakout issues.....which is a very refreshing surprise.
As far as looks are concerned, the shaver sitting in the cleaning/charging station on your countertop, has a small footprint and is really not an eyesore at all. In my mind, it's actually made my bathroom countertop look better.
Listen guys, if you're looking for a new shaver I wouldn't waste your time looking around. I've done that, I know what's out there, and you're honestly not going to find anything that's going to top this. The shaver itself is brilliant, but with the charging/cleaning stations, it's a no brainer.
This Braun Series 9 wet/dry shaver plus cleaning/charging station gets top marks!
