Poor freezer

Only had this product for 4 years. Noticed a humming sound to find out the compressor went out. Needed to throw out a lot of food. Couldn't just go and purchase another one right away. I really thought I would have it for a long time but didn't make the cut. Very disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Quit working after 6 years

Freezer totally died 6 years after purchase. I kept the freezer in my kitchen rather than my dirt floor basement to try to keep it in a drier climate. My basement tends to be quite damp. It was a nice freezer while it worked and it did well, but it died almost exactly 6 years after purchase (March 2016 purchase, died the very last week of March 2022). I had read reviews that said the freezers tended to die after 5-6 years, but I figured this was maybe the outlier and that it was an older model, people tend to review things when they're upset. When the freezer died, the contents got hot, quite warmer than the ambient room temperature, so I have a feeling this was a pretty severe mechanical failure. I'm reviewing this to just add that it can happen.

We've had one of these freezers for about 4 years and it's been GREAT! No problems, and does the job without having to think about it.

Haier chest freezers are great.

This is a product review for the Haier 4.5 cf freezer chest I own. I bought it in 1996 and it's still working fine. The chest is now getting a bit louder so I am doing some early shopping. My Haier has been exceptional and one of the best investments I've ever made. It's see a lot of deer and store bought over the years. I think the key to it's longevity is keeping it full! Half gallon screw top milk cartons filled with water make good fillers!! So if I need another freezer it's definitely going to be a Haier. Maybe this one.
