Received as Christmas gift. You need more than a screw driver to assemble and the main barrowl was not perfectly round which makes it hard to anchor to the base
The body of the smoker is very good... the hardware that is included is cheap and almost totally non-functional! The clamps that hold the barrel to the base are garbage and do not work at all... the bolts that hold the clasps are so small and worthless too. Cuisinart needs to step up and include hardware that actually works!
I bought this about 2 months ago and have used it 4 times already. It’s a great smoker that holds enough meat/food to feed a lot of people. The only advice I would give is to check on the temp every hour. I need to replenish the charcoal about every 2 hours. It does maintain temp well, though.
Just got it for my birthday, The thermometer doesn't work, and once its together you can't remove the water bowl when you're finished to clean it with out turning it vertically to get around the lower shelf brackets (which are riveted into place). This results in dumping the water onto the hot coals, or waiting for it too cool, and then dumping it into the ashes making a real mess.
During the parts inspection I noticed one of the brackets wasn't properly bent to achieve a true 90° angle. The thermometer was broken in two pieces. It needs to be replaced. All parts seemed to be accounted for. During a assembly I noticed some of the components were still loose even after being tightened snug. I was able to fix that by adding some washer/lock washers.
