Great machine, except Google cloud printing

As usual, this is a great machine with packed functions. However, one of the critical function-google cloud printing does not work well if you have window PC in the same network. Window "network printer auto discovery" will interfere with google cloud printing on this model (not on other models like MF6160). Once this machine is accessed by Window, google cloud printing function will not working even with Window PCs removed from the network. I talked with Canon IT support. I also talked to Google cloud printing community who concluded that it is this hardware related issues.
Canon ended up give me a replacement, which nice. I have not yet connected the printer to the network as I wait for their firmware updates to resolve the problems.
Other than the cloud printing, this is a great machine.

Up and running in under 10 minutes.

Not too bulky, and wireless setup took under two minutes. Paper feed was a bit tricky and the instructions, which were mostly pictographs, were vague. Although it sits in a slide-out cabinet opposite my desk, it is noisy and the quiet mode setting is mandatory. I don't like being given only a "starter" toner cartridge; it should be the full capacity cartridge. Just fine for home office use.

Very difficult UI and setup.

I've owned and used the 249DW for a year and use it for work. I needed fast printing (forget it - I can't stop it from running the paper thru twice as if it's printing double sided). Scanning is fine. Print quality is fine. Printing envelopes is a nightmare and always results in an error light and a restart.
I've used canon printers, copiers and scanners for years. I never had a problem until this one. I so regret buying it.

Easy to connect with Wifi

I recently received a Canon ImageCLASS MF249dw laser printer for review in exchange for this review. Immediately upon taking the printer out of the box, I liked how solid feeling the printer was. At 30 pounds, it`s easily manageable to handle and move about.
The imageCLASS MF249dw has print, scan, copy and fax capabilities so you can accomplish all of your necessary tasks with just one piece of equipment. The MF249dw is well equipped with connection choices, including Ethernet, USB, Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi Direct. It supports printing with the Canon Print Business and Mopria Print Service apps, as well as my preference, Google Cloud Print. I was able to easily connect the printer to my secure Wi-Fi on the user-friendly, tiltable, touch LCD panel. The Wi-Fi connection option allowed me to easily move and store my printer in any room on any level of my house I choose. The tiltable touch LCD panel has bright, clear directions that guides you through the print, scan, copy and fax options within seconds. With your connected mobile device, you will have your first print in your hands in 6 seconds or less, it`s that fast.
The quality and contrast of the print was of high quality and well suited for what we wanted this printer for, mainly printing e-mail and school reports. We used the copier function minimally, but were overall impressed with the clarity of the copies vs. the original. This copier also has the capability of printing on both sides of the paper without having to manually flipping. This is a great saver of both paper and money.

Took delivery of this the other day set it up according to the instructions and immediately began having trouble. The toner cart that came with the unit wasn't recognized. I had another Canon 137 cart in office and tried it. Neither one was recognized. I took a look in the cart area and noticed that the sensor used to "see" the cart was missing a spring. The spring is used to make contact with the cart when inserted properly. I cannibalized an MF 227dw, whose ADF stopped working after 11 months, and used its sensor spring. The fix worked but the ADF doesn't work on this piece of junk. No more Canon's!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I generously received this item to try for free and have loved my experience so far. This printer/copier/fax machine is replacing a Brother brand one that I had previously. This machine is far superior. The scanning is smooth and very good quality. The fax machine was very easy to set up as well as easy to use. The printer is much faster and much better quality printing Han the Brother as wel. I am overall very satisfied with its performance and would highly recommend it to someone looking for a high quality machine for an office or home.
